Anybody no what a (vanos) is ? heard them mentioned in adds etc ? any info on buying one etc would be appreciated full bmw history and under 100k ohh and estoril blue with white/cream leather is good lol

 

oil pressure controlled variable valve timing basically mate......

Service history is mega important cos if there not looked after they gum up and a new vanos unit is big bucks..

check for weeping camseals...you won't be happy if you have to get it sorted...

 

Cant be worse than an old rusty ford that breaks down once a week

 

3litre has single vanos and is bullet proof, 3.2 evo has double vanos and is renowned for failure, replacement is at the mo about £1850 for a rebuilt unit.

Had my M3 Cab E36, Estoril Blue and Silver Leather, sold it last year, One cool car mate but big bucks all the time, look for leaky roofs as mine had a slight leak and I had it since it was 2 yr old, BMW said nowt can be done about it, Full BMW history is a must, dont be fobbed off by "specialist" history, just not worth it, Keep hold of your cash and you will get a good one eventually, If you can, wait til Sept/Oct as you will save about £1500-£2000, if you want a Cab.
