Just been chatting to our apprentice at work and took him over to the carpark to show him my saph.

As we were on our way back to the workshop he started telling me how his dad who is also my manager is having his Skoda VRS chipped up by a place in nottingham who deal with V'Dubs, Seats and the new Skoda's.

He told me they do a free five day trial on all the chips and re-maps, what happens is you take your car along to them, they spend a few hours mapping your car and you drive home a happy man.

After exactly five days the new chip and re-map will turn its self off automaticly and then go back to standard.

Surely you could then pay someone else to disable the timer - theres a market opportunity. I'm guessing they reprogram the chip using OEM software, just load in a new map they once produced. A bit like people chipping their Minis then going for the service only to have BMW write on a new map thus removing the benefits they saw from the chip.

 

Thats what his dad wa saying, he reckons the program must still be there it just gets over written by the old program when the 5 days is up!!

They must use some sort of timer but im not sure how it works
