Here you go for lasy people who cant be arsed to read

The last few days have been very hectic since the start in London. Where we were greeted by thousands of people lining the street’s to wave us off. From leaving London a few things have hampered our ability to send you live updates the mobile web seems to work only when it wants to and when it does its not for very long so we decided to update you From the M5 Forum and Kimble is linking the updates from his site also.

The main events of the last few days as follows:

The drive to Folkestone saw several cars stopped for speeding the few that we have details of are 2 cars caught together one at 124mph and the other at 123mph we believe these were European cars.

Another car was chased by Kent traffic police; Quote the cop ‘I was doing 141mph and you were pulling away from me’ the driver was given a caution and sent on his way. We arrived at the Euro tunnel in time for the earlier train than Gumball had booked however by the time we had got a burger king they had just closed the barrier. 10 cars made this first train so when we hit France we had some catching up to do which was quite difficult as we had been told Belgium police would be ready and waiting for us with a Zero tolerance and high speed would see your car impounded and sold. So on that note we took it easy through Belgium but were still able to get to the first checkpoint 3rd. All the surrounding roads were closed which made it difficult to get in due to the massive amount of fans waiting for us (Police estimate 15000 people). Some Gumballers must have got word of the massive crowds and decided to miss this checkpoint. We left with the 3 cars we arrived with but 20 miles down the road we pulled in for fuel to find the station full of Gumballers (the ones that skipped the checkpoint). This meant we were way down the field.

So get out of Belgium then floor it, if only it was that easy we had about 20 miles till Germany when Bamby decides that the grass is greener on the other side of the road and a fully-grown deer runs across the carriageway and into our path (pictures to follow) only minor damage but we did loose a head light so roadside repairs were required so we could continue as our support vehicle was in Prague, it took about an hour to repair the head light so we could continue. We have new parts being shipped in for the morning so should be repaired and on our way. This was the point where things were made a little difficult for live update’s as we had a lot of hardware on the back seat, when you break hard things don’t stay still and unfortunately one laptop and my new digital SLR hit the back of the drivers seat and now neither work.

We are now currently in Prague the 2nd checkpoint and after all the problems still arrived in around 20th.

In the morning we will repair the car so will be slightly behind the pack but will catch up by the end of the day then front running again on Tuesday.

To sum up: Unfortunately the live email updates we will have to miss this year as we only have 1 lap top that is recording the footage.

We will post daily on the Ultimate Rally forum and the M5 forums both have links on our site.

We are trying to set up an MSN account to do a live chat forum which we will do at each check point (if anyone can advise on this we need an account that has an open amount of people that can chat and see the other people chatting all advice welcome (kim any ideas can you set an open chat room on your forum??))

We were held at the border into the chech republic as they investigated the damage to the car and then more roadside repairs before they would let us into the country, Tomorrow we have to repair the damage as we have been informed we will be turned away at the next border crossing.

There have been a few other small incidents with other cars but will report on these as we hear more.

Keep watching this space for all the latest 2005 Gumball 3000
