Default Passing horses

Sorry to whinge but this really pisses me off

Just been and picked up Alfie and on the lanes I was following a LandRover Discovery which in turn was behind Rachel. We came up behind two horses on the road. Rachel was waiting for a gap large enough to pass safely. The 4x4 was obviously irritated at having to wait. Rachel passed the horses giving plenty of room as being a horse rider herself knows what it's like. The prick in the 4x4 just hammers past the two horses leving inches of room. How the horses didn't spook I don't know. What a fucking tool.

Fuck sake it only takes a few moments to give these animals the respect and care they deserve. A 17 hand horse landing on the front of your car is not a laughing matter

Same as you here, I would rather sit behind and let the rider beckon me past if on a narrow road.

Wonder why they measure them in hands, bit weird. I always slow down for horses and give them plenty of room........unless its the mutha's using them for hunting (I hear they banned that in the UK now?) in which case they get full throttle and the fireworks from the limiter

why not leave the horses i the fields or use bridle paths !!!!

infact pay for road tax or get trade plates on em !!!!!

horses are no longer for roads, fields and stables is where they should stay !!!!!

sorry but i know this will piss steve off and then hes gonna come to the gumball to haev words then we can have a beer

i think they should be allowed onn the road to save money to keep the price of dog food down instead of the traveling fees they incur

I have to agree, its a horse - get in a field.

If they wanna ride in the road at least wear a high-vis jacket and an amber flashing helmet

My missis has a horse, why should they not go on the road? Not only is it a change of path to take for the rider but also the horse. Dont see a prob just slow down when passing.

they are part of old english law, something also to do with bridle paths and ya cant issue parking tickets on streets in the westend due to old english law

i never read the exact book but they have right or way to a car !!!!!

i think the riders should carry a poopa scoopa when riding like i do wioth me dog though !!!!!!

btw my dog was a 54kilo GSD, not far off horse's shite he passed out

Fuck them.

Most horse riders are arrogant fuckwits, who have no respect for people driving in the countryside, they see country roads as their own, which is far from the way it is.

Today incidentally, I was driving a mate home to his farm in the country, and approached three horses, (3 abreast across the road) so i drove more or less right up to them, expecting them to filter into single file and let me past, but no, they stay 3 across and wave me to stop, i stop, as i had no where else to go, and they walk past, slow as you like, heads high thinking they are a class above, not even a wave or a thank you?
I had the decency to pull away normally, low revs etc.. but in my opinion, i had every right to give it some and light up the wheels on the way away, but nah, i gave a bit of respect, unlike those posh twats.

Before i get pelters, i realise completely that not all horse riders are like this, and fair play to them, they have as much right to use the road as me, but for fuck sake, we give them some patience, respect and most of all we give them our time so they can ride in peace, why the fuck does that mean they can prance around, 3 wide on a single track road, showing drivers no respect what so ever?

Default horses

where I live there is a 2 car wide lane for about 3 miles to a pub where we eat sometimes, nothing but fields on either side but the horses are always on the lane. I thought the idea is to ride it not walk it.

Ginge, there are loads of silly laws, that doesn't mean everyone follows them. There are places in the UK where it's illegal to go outside without a bow and arrow for example, don't see many folks doing it do you

If there are paths that are safer for horses and rider alike, why not stick to them ???

Next thing you know, horses will be allowed on the motorways too

they will fooking write ya car off if ya hit em

the horse law also come in to the fact that all the rich people like to own em and so they get to make there rights too

i think horses should be treated like cylists, they gotn bridle paths, use em or loose em

I sooooo wish I hadn't read this post.....

Do you not think us horse riders would stick to bridal ways at all times if we could instead of having pricks like "some" of you lot flying past us, and scaring fook out of the horses??!!!!!!!!

Its all well and good telling us to stick to bridal ways, how the fook we suppose to get to em FLY!!!

I slow for horses for two reasons:
First, it could make a mess of my car
And second, I don't want to hurt the rider (well, sometimes I do if he/she is taking the piss)

But what good is a horse nowadays, and why should it be on the road?

If I want to go on the road on a car or bike, I need a licence, and MOT and Insurance AND I have to buy a tax disc. Without any of those, I'm limited to private property. Horses can go on the road.

My car needs a CAT and god knows what else to keep the emissions clean. Horses can shit everywhere!

My car takes me and my family places, but no-one ever seems to go more than one-up on a horse.

Cars tow trailers (and caravans too, sadly) but I don't see many horses doing that nowadays.

Why can't horsey people just realise that the horse is a big toy, and use it in a field like I would use a trials bike?

i love animals personally, but horses are the only ones i hate, i think they are evil. But then again, being French i can safely say they taste so damn good for an evil devil creature.

The comments about 'horses were here before cars' etc etc steam trains were here before electric ones, but do we still use steam trains?

Exactly

Stay in the fields, you don't pay tax, you shit on the roads, there is no real guarentee that a horse will behave itself, you don't have insurance....what if mr horse kicks my 'parked' car?

Sorry, im drunk, but the above is what i believe in....geta horsebox, drive the horse to one of britains numerous bridal paths, have some fun in the fields where the horse likes it, not on the road where its shitting everywhere making it dangerous for bikes and cars, & rearing up if you make a sound it doesn't like.

Horses should stay in the fields IMHO.
Being confonted with a slippery pile of horse shit on a blind bend is no fun on a motorbike

I dont find it funny coming around a corner on my bike to be greeted by a pile of horse shit the size of a fucking small child

And i ALWAYS slow down for horses - its not their fault the people riding them are cnuts

And i aint tarring everyone with the same brush, but the ones i come across are ALWAYS stuck up twats that think you should give em a round of appluase because they are on a fucking horse!!! Hello its the year 2005!!!

Sorry rant over.............. and breathe
