You can have anything you want pretty much. Medium and large format cameras can go really really wide but they are mega expensive.

If you mean widescreen then they vary a lot, 16:9 is quite common.

Stu, isn't a wide angle shot one that's taken with a wide angle lens (i.e. less than 50mm) as opposed to a zoom lens ?

whether the photo is taken with a wide angle or telephoto lens has no relation to the print size as that depends on the format the photo is taken on
if its any help though aps cameras use the following sizes generally
classic 4x6
hdtv/group shots 4x7
panoramic 4x10/11

Yup

To clarify, if you have a 35mm camera, the print will have a 4x6 ratio, if you use medium format, the ratio will vary depending on the camera, but iirc, it is typically square.

Cameras that take so called "panoramic" shots (some APS cameras do it), actually take a full size picture (4x6) and store information on the magnetic strip at the back of the film that instructs the printing machine to crop the top and bottom of the picture to give it a "panoramic" feel.

Stu, to answer your first question (or was it second ?), I think it's a stupid question but stand to be corrected

I wanted to know the dimensions so I can crop some images I have taken to the correct dimensions. Ie pictures I have taken with it in mind of it being printed as a panormaic. But as I dont have a wide angle lense its in the normal 4x6 size and need cropping to the correct size for the photo lab people.

I dont wanna spend more money gettin a picture made to the exact dimensions when I can just crop one to the correct dimensions first time.

even with a wide angle lens the photo would come out at the NORMAL 4x6 size as that is the ratio your camera takes pics at, as said above the lens has nothing to do with the picture ratio/size

yes but you have had an answer to your question there is NO size for a wide angle shot, and panoramic shots can be as wide as you want
