Default PC NETWORK EXPERTS, HELP NEEDED

my broadband router / PC is doing crazy things, its a SOLWISE ADSL Router, and basically i keep losing connection to the net, It only happens when i evert back to factory settings on my PC (did a restore last week, ), basically lose connection, (although just to net, not to BB, as the icon still revices etc, i just right click select repair and all is fine again, it happened before but i cant remember how i sorted the prob. Basically i am running XP, SP2. so far i have tried another network car, updated drivers, differnent cat 5 cables, different ports on router, but it still happens, intermittinly, i have no idea, I have had the network gurus at work check the router thoroughly but all settings in that are fine, (as work pay for BB), no entries in event logs on this or the router, no confilcts etc, me stumped, any one got any ideas I can check please?
