Default Remapping/Over fueling info advice please! (Also a dilema)

Im looking to buy a vectra, (long story!) but he is saying it is over fueling and needs a remap.
Thoughts please? (Im no expert in this field)

This is the problem in his own words, along with the spec of the car:

Last year it went to Courtenay for a service and RR tune. They adjusted the fueling - how on a superchip they wouldn`t tell me.
This has resulted in the car running slightly rich- symptoms being a bit smelly of fuel and not wicked MPG.The car still goes like a train and achieved 167 BHP @ hubs @ THOR-running rich-(running rich can knock off power).
If you`ve seen mine and Ziggy`s AFR`s you`ll know what I mean on running rich. The only difference between mine and Ziggy`s is that mines had the fueling adjusted by Courtenay.
To sort it out it`ll require a re-map such as a UNI-CHIP @ about £500-00 or THOR`s Greddy system.Either way better running and more BHP will be gained.-The car runs fine as it is,it`s just not got briiliant MPG and could be down on power a little.THAT`S ALL THAT`S WRONG WITH IT(if you view running rich as wrong)
CS15+ package which is -
remap,4 bar pressure regulator, air box induction rework, reworked throttle body, reworked inlet manifold centre section, injector clean, lower inlet manifold divider.
New battery @66.6k
Courtenay high torque cams
Cambelt/tensioners replaced same time as cams(uprated cambelt)
New multi v belt
Cool running thermostat
Lightened/balanced flywheel
Sach's racing clutch
F23 gearbox
F23 gearbox breather mod
Quaife LSD
Manifold heatshield
Magnecour leads(8.5mm)
New dispack
K/N 57i (comes with Courtenay Motorsport panel filter and new airbox lid)
New coolant sensor
Powerflow twin exit (letterbox upswept) cat back exhaust
The dilema is this; the car started life as a normal V6 Arctic (limited edition rebadged SRI) it is now a GSI replica that has alot more power than a GSI.
The bloke has had it up for sale for 4 months because of lack of interest as he wants 5k for it. Everyone is just seeing it as a well overpriced arctic which is usually worth about 2k.
The facts and figures of why it is so expensive is here:
http://www.cruise-south.co.uk/v2/rev...ctra/index.htm

Basically, a new respray, lots of engine/body work, 19" alloys, add up to a bargain, but resale value is going to be the same problem as he had!
(I suppose it could always be broken)

Thats a very nice looking car, but I would be VERY suspicious. Why have all that work done and leave it over-fuelling?

I know Courtenay Sport very well and could possibly find out from them what the situation is with the car.

I like the 'if you view running rich as wrong' line. It seems as though it had 90% of the work done, then just abandoned. Very odd.

Thats whats putting me off most of all. I dont understand why they would change the fueling and then leave it set wrong
If you could try to find out some info on the car it would be great

I know nothing about vauxhall engines, but sometimes the fuelling is deliberately upped to cool the mixture...

Perhaps it was pre-detonating and he didn't want to spend any more lowering the comp ratio?

Just a thought... and maybe a poor one
