Yep thats a corsa setup.

If you want it to be speed sensitive still though you need an interface to chat to the ECU that controls it.

Or you can just put it on a switch if you just want it for manouvering around.

Im doing similar on one of my girlfriend's cars soon (a mini) with the corsa setup, she sadly suffers from a bit of athritis (diagnosed back when she was only 14 ) and due to the wide wheels, small steering wheel, and fairly quick ratio rack it makes it very hardwork at low speeds

so do they need hard wiring into ecu for speed sensing or not? if not its a straight forward job really?

Saxo / 106

There are 2 types the upright one is the easiest to fit and sort out all the fittings for

Steve,

The controllers from AMT are £100 not £180 as I mentioned the other day. I will show you the one for mine next week.

Saxo one is a high pressure fluid pump and the Corsa B has a powered column one. Hence my answer to the question asked

Ask them if they have the decimal point in the right place. Anyway, have you not got a loom to do instead of playing on computers??

Cheers

Is the wiring 12 volts from the ignition direct to the pump (via a relay?) or to its own ecu (didn't know if they are variable pressure)?

No ECU necessary - Direct feed pump via relay & 30A fuse.

We normally put them on a seperate switch on the dash too - so its selectable on/off

Some Clio's have a similar set up too

Mate,

in your experience is it ok to run a power rack without the pump pumping?
Could you wire it up to a potentiometer and so slow the pump down?

Also, what do you use to mate the pump up to the rack? Is it a job for a hydraulics company as its pretty high pressure.. c 1000 psi.

Forgot to ask, is the upright pump found on both the Saxo and 106?

I think the 205 lot used to take the PAS off the car, and leave the power rack in, creating more off a quick rack feel.

Okay to run a power rack with no power yes, the fluid just gets moved manually. As Rich says its a commonish idea in some forms of sport. Why do you feel you would need to slow it down ? Obviously its only pumping its hardest on full lock to lock turns - not something that happens a lot on the road

The upright one which looks about the size of a coke bottle with a motor underneath is found on some Saxo's and Clio's and we always use hydraulic hoses with proper crimped ends yes.
