Strange cossie problem/Engine bay temps
Driving home last night, did about 15 miles no probs.
Stopped to drop someone off at their house and chatted for afew mins, the temp gauge went up and the fans came on as usual.
Got onto the dual carrigeway (less than a min from when temp was up) and the temp started to dro pas expected.
Was sitting at 70-75 quote happily cruising along and then the car started to hold back slightly.
It wasnt kangerooing bigtime or coming on/off the power in a big way, but was definitly holding back. At the same time, the temp gauge didnt drop below the middle of the guage (usually goes down and sits at quarter)
Came off at a roundabout and then the temp dropped slowly to the quarter and drove home fine the rest of the way.
Any ideas?!
I put Roose hoses on last week and have checked the water level regularly since.
Also have taken off the underbonnet insulation, would that lower or raise under bonnet temps?
When i got home the engine bay was really hot, concidering id not really driven it on boost hardly it was hotter than i expected. I could feel and hear the water boiling in the hose from turbo back to header tank.
The turbo does have alittle side to side play in the shaft, would that make it get alot hotter than one with no play?

faulty thermostat?
blockeage somewhere?
did you bleed the system properly after fitting your hoses? i.e let it run til the fans come on with the header tank cap removed?

Ideally to bleed a 4x4 cooling system,
you need to raise the front of the car slightly (I jack mine right up 12 inches)
This allows air to move to the front of the engine towards the bleed point.
With the engine OFF, undo the bleed screw on top of the thermostat housing and
wait for the water to flow out constantly.
If it doesnt, then top up in small amounts the water header tank and wait for the air to be purged.
One other point, you CANNOT run the engine WITHOUT a thermostat as the housing have a three way
operation and the flow of the pump will NOT want to go through the radiator fully.

OK, cheers. So water will start to flow out of the bleed point even with the engine not running?
Once its a steady flow then start the engine and let it run with the cap off till the fans come on?

Yes - thats how I do it and have no problems
Caution though, ONCE done, only ever top up water level when the engine is cold.
Otherwise, the header tank will split (even quicker than they already do)
