Default Tesco 99 octane petrol

Afternoon

Dont know if this has been mentioned yet, but a limited number of Tesco stores are selling 99ron octane unleaded petrol

99 OCTANE STORES:
Beford 1
Cheshunt Extra
Crawley Hazelwick
Gallions Reach Extra
Gillingham Kent
Lakeside Extra
Ramsgate Manston
Salisbury 2
Sandhurst Extra
Sevenoaks Riverhead
Stevenage Extra
Winchester
However all the people I have heard of using it so far have owned bog standard Escorts and the like with plain Zetec engines and didnt really notice any difference. So I was wondering if any of you performance RS or Cossie owners have tried this yet and noticed any benefit?

It's 87.9p a litre at Lakeside Tesco station atm and has replaced all of the old 97ron pumps.

I think they are trialing it at the moment

I'm just impatient to know how good it is

It would surely help the import owners and also the bigger power cossie owners.

Also I reckon as a plus it could help release Shell strangehold on the performance petrol market.

remeber that when a cars leaning a bit it will feel quicker too, best get the fueling checked if ya gonna feel a difference as when i was running 2 bar boost the car was shit hot for speed, really fooking dangerous to drive, was sooooo cool

but it was due to leaning a little

I find it weird that there is a very clear cut line between people who use optimax and people who will only use 95ron. Both will tell you they are correct. Ok on paper it is better but they always come back with "was no such thing as optimax when the cossie or rst came out!". personally i stand on the optimax side of the fence. Maybe its the cost ? but i like to think that using a better fuel your getting a better burn and there4 roughly evening itself out.

wtf are you on about
if you have a cossie or rst you have to use either optimax or super,,UNLESS you want your ing knocked so far back you might as well be driving a skoda

and as for petrol that was out when they was first made,,ever heard of four star

Always use Optimax but it would be interesting to see if another company could have a play for the top spot of performance petrol as in my eyes Optimax has had it for a long while

I use the Sainsburys Super Unleaded.

Its just up from the garage, well priced and noticeably better than the BP Super.

Will keep my eyes out for this Super Fuel however.

thing is mate 95ron unleaded fuel was like 2 star back in the day when cossies were new
I would only run my lawnmower on it!
ages ago when perol was cheap(er) we actually got a good ron rating however it all changed when environmentalists wanted to save the plannet and not put lead etc in our fuel so they decided to give us unleaded which had a much lower ron/mon rating than good old 4 or 5 star

Ah... this may explain the "bad" tank of Optimax I got the other day, car started spluttering at idle and pinking on high boost, until the tank was filled with Optimax from elsewhere...

I'm not disputing the fact that 95 ron is dirt!and I personally would not use it. Its just that a lot of people still use it and refuse to change. As i said b4 Alvyn and alex will only use 95 and they have both owend their cossie's for over 10 years !

My cossie runs on esso super as my tuner says he get less det on esso over optimax.

when i set up my xr2tt, sainsburys super was best for det, and the cheapest.
