Eprom maps
#5
Finding the maps is the easy bit (relatively)
BUT...
Even if you know where they are and how the data is TRULY represented....
Dont forget the checksums, the P8's checksums(s) are not a contiguous calculation
as areas of the eprom are not used as the internal flash memory overlaps the
eprom address space !!!
If you make a change to the map and NOT the checksum(s) , the ecu will either ....
1) Not run at all !!
2) run in limp home home (I.e rev /boost limit)
3) will switch to an alternate fuel map
Or it may work (unlikely) - all this depends on the original mapper who made your chip in the first place !
When I did it all those years ago,
it took me 1 hour to find the maps, and 1 month to suss out the checksum !!
Unfortunately this knowledge will not be free
