Default Which cams? - FAO tuners!

A mate wants me to get cams for him. THe car has: some custom T4 based turbo (much less lag so I think it has T-34 exhaust housing or something), Wossner forged pistons with valve cut outs, standard comp, EEC IV block and head, EEC IV plenum, RS500 style IC, 2WD exhaust manifold, supersprint free flow exhaust, induction kit, Motec managment

What would you reccomend and where to get it?

I forgot to say. They aim for about 400bhp, and rather low lag. The car has everything uprated in the transmission exept gearbox andI dont know any plans for new one. Maybe they are just too optimistic. Hmm anyway - so you say mix of BD14 and BD16? Who else and why such combinations?

this is just going from what ive been told mate

im not to sure on why mix the cams something about getting the fuel and air in longer and the exhausts out quicker

or something along those lines

has he had any head work

but may get away with just using a pair of bd12s i think which are like a mild fast road cam

not to sure but im sure someone with a bit more knowlegde in the cam dept may help

BD14 inlet and std exhaust cam will make 400bhp with a T34 so with a T4 it will make more power. Std cams would probably be good for nearly 400 with the motors spec

ive got a pair of NMS cams in mine with certain bits equivalent to BD15's

like any build the cams need speccing as a complete package with the head and turbo

mine was a specific low lag build with capacity to take further bhp with a turbo change from the t34 .55 it has now

Have in mind that there is about dozen of Cossies in POland and no tuner who has experience with road cars. So the spec is lots of guessing - that's why I ask which cams to the spec.

bd 15 inlet bd 12 exhaust is enough

or you can use a bd 16 and a standard exhaust.. but the bd 16 works better with a t04 or bigger turbo

it's up to you mate ,like Matt said you need to spec the engine what he wants it for

all i wanted was a rd version 400 bhp engine and thats was it

some people have a 400bhp at low rpm mine isn't mind is more mid range power , it's seems to be ok on track for me i am happy with it

cheers marco
