306 rallye is what i had, was brilliant fun...

turning circle was shit tho, on mini roundabouts etc...

but beautiful drive and nice space in the boot/interior etc.

You don't rate one of the universally accepted best handling FWD cars EVER?

Muppet - next you'll be telling me that 205s don't go round corners well

...seriously keep it planted....give it the occasional lift off to get some adrenline flowing.....

I'm well impressed with my 306 for handling - the wheels being right at every corner helps I reckon!!!

I had an 8 month old S16 for about 18 months. The handling was superb, and as said, keep it planted and it will go round, lift off and massive oversteer, with no warning. The Engines leave a little to be desired. Mine ate 7 coil packs in the time I owned it, and had major electrical gremlins and head gasket problems.

Wouldnt have another, but I would have a 205!

My standard 205 was great out of the box handling-wise, sure the 306 must be too seeing as 99% of people seem to say so

had a Mk2 XR2 years back then got a 205 1.6 gti. The difference was amazing. My boss has a 205 with GTI-6 engine and box in, rubbish turning circle, expensive conversion but that thing flies. I never had a single problem with reliability in the 205 either, whereas the XR2 had two replacement engines. Oh, and the Turbo Technics 205s... stunning. Not much experience with 306s personally but if they're even 80% of what the 205s were then they must be as good as everyone says.

Yo! Rhys I havent had any problems at all m8 the TDi is bang on just seems to lap up abuse "Economy Racing" pmsl........

The GTi6 engine aint all its cracked up to be IMO......i know of a few that have spilled there guts on track(light track use), just wouldnt be the power plant id choose.

A well behaved powerfull engine and that chasis would be da'bomb IMO

IMHO people comparing non gti6's cant give a real opinion as they VERY different.

And also if you REALLY cane a GTI6 you might feel a bit different to if you just drive one pretty hard (obv some here has drove them mega hard too).

I DONT like them. Purely cause on the absolute limit the liftoff oversteer is snappy and lethal. On a 1.9 205 GTI the liftoff oversteer is spot on and you can have a god play with it. On GTI6s its just not the same, snappy and horrible, even at far lower speeds than id imagine.

Ive driven 2, both elt the same, so doubt it was a 1 off.
