Merry chrimbo all. Was wondering how the one way valve on the fuel line at the tank comes out. Its the original plastic fuel line and I'm not wanting to cut it. Mk4 escort cheers
You have to get inventive with some screwdrivers or long nose pliers usually. Go in expecting it to break tho - the newest of these are 30yrs old so brittle at best
As above
there are 2 small cutouts you can get small screwdrivers in
pull down on them to release the spring loaded tension and pull the plastic connector off
Can't see properly as it is a really really terrible pic. But by sounds of things it is like a relatively common quick disconnect line. There are various tools and pliers to assist with these, but would need a better clean image.
Or if access is easy, poking things as suggested should work.
Thanks guys , I took the picture from online it's not my car. Does anyone have the inside size of the line? Going to buy rubber hose and re run it ( if the one way valves are good I'm not wanting to break them ) I've had 2 engines 3 different fuel metering units new fuel tank etc and it still won't run when it's cold. Can't get into the garage until end of Jan/Feb to check fuel pressures. Replacing fuel pump checking voltage and fuel line with the valves today. It starts first time when it's warm and I must have swapped 75-80% of the car k to ke Jetronic. Xr to rs. 🤞
There will not really be any safe way to attach a rubber hose to that nylon hose. Assuming that is the high pressure fuel feed to the engine
Although you may be able to get fittings you can fit into the nylon hose to allow different adaptations, these also require special tooling to use. Typically the nylon is 8mm OD line, but obviously you need to measure
