Not starting
Hi all you Ford people I’ve been reading these forums and have found this one it’s what happening to mine I have a ford transit minibus 2.4 asm auto. at 1st it would get stuck in gear 2 and cut out when slowing down at this point the gearbox light was flashing. Then the van wouldnt let me select a gear on the dash and the lights were just flashing and making noises this didnt allow me to select neutral and start it, now the glow plug light is flashing and will not even turnover, so I took the batterys out to charge over night and reset the vans system and it then turned off the gearbox light and it allowed me to turn the van over but it wouldnt ignite, 10-15 mins later it went back to flashing lights and not allowing me to select a gear. this has really baffled me and a few mechanics already Im tempted to get an auto electrician out but before spending more money on it I wondered if you guys could help me diagnose the problem, AA man plugged his diagnostics in and it said there was no problems so forums are now my only option!
What have I done I want a reliable camper so 168km New radiator starter alternator water pump glow plugs cleaned intake throttle and intake manifold ignition switch fuel air and oil filters.
ASM transmission drove for 18 months not a problem replaced all the stuff and nothing it cranks over perfectly but no starting asm trans flashing
is there any help out there

Quite clearly it has been a complete bunch of incompetent people who have looked at it.
Whether fault codes, some basic looking at live data, and some tests will at least give some sort of starting point in terms of what may be wrong.
Find a proper mechanic/technician, although they do seem to be a rarity

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Those ASM vans are crap, It may just be clutch failure, used to work on Tesco delivery vans that had AsM,They were trouble 15 years ago.
Check the actuators above the gear box aren't sticking too, the Fiesta/Fusion with ASM suffer from seized actuators too.
