Yep, he did it whilst at work. As soon as I heard what he’d done the alarm bells started ringing
went to the address on the V5 and they’d never heard of the guy
The cunt just laughed at me when I pulled him up on it 🤬🤬

Did they get him for just a deposit? How did he pay?

Well looks like they are stupid enough to leave most of their facebook account open so get on to friends and hassle friends and family and tell them exactly what they are like.

If he sent the money through paypal as friends and family contact them and say it was fraudulent and if you don't get the money back then it will be in the hands of the police, also report them to the police and print out all the paperwork and show them everything. Just basically do as much as you can to cause them hassle etc.

If it was on ebay /marketplace then get screenshots of both their accounts and post up your own for sale ad with their pictures explaining what they are like.

Hopefully it wasn't a lot he was taken for, I got taken a couple of years ago by a guy down in wales/chelmsford area. Luckily I found out he was trying to scam me before I sent more money so I was only out by about 50 quid. Spoke with paypal and the scammer had used his sisters account, had a bit of an argument with her because paypal gave me the money back. Could have been a lot worse he had been on audisrs and got pictures from for sale ads and used them to try con me out of more money.

They wanted Ł3500 or 50%, but he only gave them 2, so it could have been worse but still hurts.

Unfortunately bank transfer, hopefully the banks will show some sympathy as he thought he’d done all the diligence, turns out they had a fake V5 too

Looks like he's got a few profiles:

https://www.facebook.com/liam.cumbor.9
https://www.facebook.com/liam.cumbor
https://www.facebook.com/liam.cumbor.71

The second one mentions police involvement, might be worth contacting South Yorkshire Police, he's probably known to them.

Likely family members linked through one of his mates profiles and then all linked to one another and multiple profiles each:

Facebook page for what might be his brothers business, they are certainly friends on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/allhoursremovals/

192.com lists a Liam P Cumbor living in Doncaster with Paige P Cumbor, Catherine E Cumbor and Paul G Cumbor, which ties in with the paul cumbor in the facebook profiles above

Hopefully you can get the money back or some sort of resolution.

In this day and age everything is online and the more someone digs into it the more they find.

Good news!

Bank has refunded the money as we could demonstrate that we undertook sufficient due diligence before parting with the money, but still fell victim to the scam.

That’s a really good outcome for us, now I hope that the banks and old bill go after these fuckwits so nobody else gets conned by them in future

Thanks all for your supportive comments and wonderful detective work. 🙏👍

Oh, and we managed to pick up a really nice 2017 VW Caddy yesterday so he’s all set now 😁

At least he got the money back and I'm sure your lads now learned not to pay such a large deposit on something before you've been to see it!
