Default removing lambda sensor, what size socket?

got to change a sensor but the socket won't fit
the socket is 22mm but it won't fit over the nut of the lambda sensor
and no one seems to do any other sizes
using some old school spanners though i've got a 7/8th af spanner to fit over the top but i can't get any grip on it to spin the nut
any options before i do the usual "set fire to the thing" ?
it's the pre cat sensor in my 1.4 fiesta and sits right behind the air box so you can see it, just can't get to the bastard because there's a little depression in the manifold
cheers

Always used 22m spanner.

get a long one and heat the end and bend it to the shape you need if it won’t fit.

Have you got a suitable box spanner?
