Rivets between spot welds are fine for mot
there is one thing I've noticed though where inner wing meets outer wing I can't see any seem seal and it's s different colour just that strip, it can't be painted it appears to be an added piece, need to see what that is as doesn't look good :-(

Its more rivets than car! ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Guessing those inner pieces are just additional bracing between the wings and top mount area - don't know these cars well enough but can't imagine they really suffer from that much flex that high up for it to impact driving..

Legally any exhaust must exit behind the cabin, it must have at least one silencer, and must not exit to the kerbside. And with the age of that car....cats etc.
And that's not even getting into the grey area of noise lol or going too deep into construction and use.
From a road use point of view, there is absolutely nothing legal about that exhaust. But it serves their purpose if there was an issue with the previous exhaust and they needed a quick/easy fix.
If the car already has a sequential gearbox, then any decent ecu will cover the flat shift, it doesnt need geartronics.

As far as I know it is....where those models ever fully 100% UK models, or are they imports ? Although would be surprised if EU legislation was so different from UK
It was a big thing for the Viper when it came to the UK as they had to create a rear exit exhaust as the side exit could not be made legal.
SLR is a cool looking car though.
And the R33 with the rivets...I don't think I could ever buy a car with that many rivets !

I've just had confirmation it's an extra piece of plate that follows contours of original shape !

Pop rivetted seams I can live with, but a pop riveted in piece of plate I definitely cannot
I can't see how that can be doing anything to strengthen it it makes no sense to me ?

The rivets in general make no sense to me. It's not like the shell would have been structurally weak, that doing that abusive work to it, will have actually improved anything.
Yes rivets can be strong, they can be effective etc etc....but generally that's in lieu of any other means of fixing together, or for fastening different materials that maybe cannot be welded.
And are they stainless rivets, soft aluminium, other ? Soft aluminium are common...but would have limited strength too.
That over and above anything else would put me off the car. When it comes to shells...it's hard to beat a nice, untampered with, rust free OEM shell.
It certainly looks clean and rust free, the rivets are just mental though

It's a shell strengthening thing I've seen on a few of them over the years
Look doesn't bother me as I want it as a road legal dragster, it's the added metal above inner wing edge that is really bothering me :-(
I msgd Steve Scott today about his fiesta as I was thinking today that lightweight fiesta he has for sale with a 700 hp lump in it would be insanely fast for drag racing, but the dog box in it is h pattern not sequential so there would be to much cost making it how I'd want it
Basically need 700+ hp per ton I'm thinking the more the merrier with some instant shifting gears
That fiesta would be what about 1000 kg roughly ?

Well I've found a Facebook page for rgf in Japan now, I've tried calling it's ringing but get no answer, it's currently 11am in Japan, but even if hiroyuki does answer I'm guessing unlikely he can speak English and I don't speak Japanese so
lol
so I've translated a msg into Japanese and sent it them through messenger
Also I've found you can do a full history check in Japan with the chassis number for £25 so I've ordered that to
I must have spent a good 24 hours + scouring the internet looking for info trying to trace it lol
I'm not giving up I want it if I can authenticate it

Well this one is out, got hpi report done in Japan and mileage has been 8800 for 10 years ! And it's listed as contamination risk due to location with nuclear reactor leak
But every cloud has a silver as I was also in discussion about another big hp car that I'm now putting a deposit on, alot more power than this one

LOFL !!!!!!
Who'd have thought you need Geiger counters when going to view a car lol
Not that dear I guess ? Would certainly be interesting....and even more interesting, is how something like that made it through UK customs if there is a potential risk to anyone.
There would be some serious hazardous goods laws being broken there

It's a red flag on hpi, also mileage 8800 from 2009 right upto 2017 8800 not 1 Mile added. And can't verify the car either
And what would it of cost to get the car how I want it
For not alot more money I've picked up a 1600 hp gtr, syvecs, freshly built this year engine and PPG box, alot more car for the money so I'm happy

two GTR's now ? Certainly shows that research was well worth doing on the other car. Last think you want is to have a nuclear reactor in your garage.
Will this one just be for racing then ?

Although mileage could simply be someone never bothered to get the speedo working after changing the gearbox, or it doesnt have the correct dash fitted etc etc
The mileage part is probably no real concern, as clearly the car will have been used and driven in some respects, so mileage cannot have correctly stayed fixed. it just means the odometer doesnt work

So you think it's realistic that a car has not turned a wheel in over 10 years according to that report because it odometer as not increased...even though there are videos of it in the UK being driven ?
No...it's just a little common sense.

Nissan certainly put all the right bits in them from the factory ( even if lots change them too ).
They are a superb platform for going fast, even despite the weight
