Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me. The head gasket is failing on my 2wd cosworth YB turbo with wills ringed head. I'm currently running 300 bhp but would like to run closer to 400, can I stick a wrc head gasket on there or does it have to be a special one because of the wills rings? Do I also need to replace the rings and does anyone know where I can get them?
Thanks all!

I once bought an unused 200 block which had been machined for wire rings. got the deck planed and it took 0.75mm to get down to a flat surface which meant it lost about 5cc of combustion chamber which may or may not be a problem depending upon what you do with pistons, head gasket thickness, head thickness etc.
i dont know what wills rings are and vaguely recall that it was supposed to use welding wire to get a better grip on the gasket but if the depth of the machining you have is similar then it might worth looking at

Wills ring are a Machined groove around the bores filled with a stainless steel wire that crushes and seals the cylinder bores for high boost applications. It's still meant to be one of the best ways to keep to seal an engine. As far as iam awhere the gasket bore hole has to be bigger because of the wire so it sits past the wire and only seals oil and water. I don't think the gasket would have the metal o ring around each bore but I might be wrong.

Mine is actually only wire rung so I am trying to replace the wire and use a group A gasket as that seems to be what most people suggest, but I would be interested in just running a wrc and leaving the wire out if it is reliable.
Thanks for your help

Hi mattman, just seen your message. How long have you been running that for? Did you get the block decked first?
