Either way you will get spotted in the car so it just depends how much you want to get spotted.
So you got the series 1 then, i'd love one but out of my budget even one thats ruined to reshell.

I'd get it done without a second thought and without a care as to what others think mate. It will need the wheels and to be fair it'll have the performance to back up the looks!

The Escos in the photo is a proper stripped out rally prepared car and would be at home in a serious rally. Having one the same with the front spotlights pod etc just as an ordinary road car would not be the same to me but that is just my opinion. It would certainly stand out and get a lot of attention compared to a standard looking one but if I saw it I would be thinking " I wonder what rally is that going to"

The reason for contemplating doing it is not to stand out although in essence that is exactly what would happen mate. It's just its such an iconic part of ford rallying of the 90.s it would be nice to have replica of it in the garage. I have a rs 1600i shell that will be a datapost rep also when I get the chance lol

What's the car used for? If it's only used occasionally, and you like it, just do it. Who cares what other people think. It's not like you'll be using it to drive to work in.
I wouldn't fit WRC spoilers and bits, as the livery is wrong for that, but fit the inner headlamp blanks and mud flaps. Also, if it's only a toy/weekend/track car, you could always fit some bucket seats and strip the interior out. Even if you didn't go all out and kept some of the interior, it would still make it look a bit more hardcore.
Ultimately, if you like it, do it. Life is too short to worry about what other people think.

Not my cup of tea mate but it’s your car, personally I’d just change the wheels and run as much power as possible

Exactly, I used to drive a smart brabus and people made all sorts of comments, I couldn’t have cared less.
My mate runs a huge castle hotel in France, he is very invested in it so can not afford loads, he lives in a hot country and loves convertibles and Porsche’s....I keep telling him to buy a cheap boxster lhd, he says he could not be seen in a "poor mans porsche" I tell him to get over himself...who gives a toss, if it had Skoda/ Hugo on the badge it is still a brilliant car. People can be odd. I love my little TT roadster, people make hairdresser jokes and I just roll my eyes, It just doesn’t bother me.
but then, I have just bought this:
My daughter loves driving it around the drive, she is 10.
