Depends on you insurer. Most don't, but some have stipulations. For example, Swiftcover (I think) withhold a years NCB for the year you make a windscreen claim. So, if you were due to receive your 4th years NCB but have a screen before you've finished that year, you don't lose any previously accrued NCB, but they don't award you that years one.

ok thanks...im with Tesco insurance but I cant find or remember any of my policy details, probably best to sacrifice a years ncd rather than pay out £400.... my policies under £500 a year anyway.

When we claimed a few years ago it didn't effect our no claims but the cunts still put the premium up the following year because of it. I'll never claim for a windscreen again. When I got a chip in the screen of my 330d I got a local independent guy who was recommended to me by a mate to come round and try and repair it. It was a bloody big chip and he did say that all the big companies wouldn't even bother trying to repair it and just bung a new screen in at a ridiculous price. Anyway, for around £45-£50 he had a go and considering how bad it was he did a good enough job to make it safe and pass an mot. He did tell me though that if I decided I did want a new screen that he could get one for around £170 I think including the rain and light sensor thingy that mounts behind the rear view mirror. He also told me how certain manufactures and big windscreen companies put ridiculous mark ups on screens when they all come from pretty much the same place. He said he had a customer with an Aston Martin I think it was, and he needed a new screen. Aston wanted something ridiculous like 3K or maybe even more (can't quite remember). He fitted exactly the same screen for a few hundred quid.
For the sake of a couple hundred quid I for one wont ever claim on my insurance again for a screen. Oh and incidentally the repair that I had is still spot on. It was never perfect but it was plenty good enough and it hasn't got worse in the year or so since I had it done.

Cant remember exactly, but it was definitely a noticeable amount. I think the excess was something like £75 as well. Had I known how cheap screens are I wouldn't have bothered. Like I said the local independent who repaired the screen on my 2010 BMW 330d quoted me something like £170 for a whole new screen and said if it was National Windscreens or one of the other big companies then they would probably charge something like £500 or more.

Just claim through insurer, i did on my Sierra and never came up on claim history but obviously depends on insurer. Most insurers put your premium up when it’s due for renewal regardless.
I had a claim on my car, when I renewed insurance I did quotes with and without the claim out of interest and it made no difference! The main issue is if it affects your no claims, and it doesn’t
I have had 3 on my Range Rover, it’s a big screen and seems to attract stones. It is heated and has auto dip mirror, auto wipers, heating, anti heat gain in summer etc so costs a few grand and my insurance has not gone up.
