i used to work for Halifax investigating credit card fraud.
You can get your money back(although it does take alittle time), the card comapny will investigate it for you, depending on the amount and the circustances on wheather they just give you the money back straight away or wheather they do their investigating first.
The card company only has 120 days to get your money back from the merchant - this is only extended if the merchant has given a delivery date, so if you got any issues on purchases call your credit card comapny and get them into dispute asap

Working from a point of view that the card or card number is stolen......

The person that looses out is the person that sold the goods....... we and a few other traders got "done" a few years ago by 1 scam artist (read COONT) we all had "charge backs" and lost Ł1000's between us all.....

The general misconseption is that the CC company foots the bill, this is not true the trader that sold the goods gets the money taken straight outta their account NO questoions asked...

visa or mastercard rules mean the bank or card comapny can get the money back from the merchant without there approval. Depending on other technicalities whether the bank or cc comapny write the loss off or get the money back. Either way the important thing is you can get your cash back.

Non delivery which is what this one seems to be is real easy for the investigating team to sort and wont take long.
