Just my work history

itsmeagain I did ASK them if there were some sales vacancies at the moment and they said they had some sales rep slots, so they did have something I'm interested in.

Other than that I'm just spamming loads of people

IMO thats not enough.

Not exactly somthnig that would make anyone take notice, not unless your CV was fantastic (ie amazing qual's or big work based achivments)

Covering letters should be used to big yourself up.

Its not so easy when your not applying for anything in particular as you cant tailor the cover letter to a certain type of job, but still.

this is true, but if they take anytime to read the cv its a damn good one, same one I have been using for the last four years when finding work, has more than enough stuff on there to get the right message accross.

but if someone has as good a CV (not exactly unlikley) the person who seems a lot better will have more chance, and a decent cover letter goes a long way

Why have a huge covering letter ?

You dont want to bore the tits off them with the letter before they even get to the cv.

speaking to a mate the other day and said that sales at ford is shit, because you have to sell sooo many, its a sell sell sell high pressure environment, where as say porsche only sell a certain amount so its much more laid back.

I too am going to write a nice letter with my cv attached to all the dealerships around here soon

But while you will get 10 people coming into a Ford dealership that can afford a Focus, there will only be one coming into the Porsche garage who can afford a 911 - and another 9 dreamers to waste your time!!!!

Personally, I wouldn't fancy dealer sales, and the Ford discount isn't as good as when you work for Ford themselves - I used to get parts cheaper than the dealers could buy them for!
