well done matey. Nice to see a legend of a car on the Ford scene living on. You will have to get a "in loving memory of Rod" sticker for it.

I'm going to want at least 700 I don't think any of the smaller efr would be suitable, if it ends up at say 750 hp on pump fuel I think the 9180 is what's needed, currently has a 1.4 turbine housing on but that is going to be changed to the 1.05 for better response

Mark mentioned the 3.9 to me, il see how I go with it, I'd like to keep it the same so 200 mph is still achievable though

I think it’s more of an on the move car than a quarter mile car thing is insane fast on the move. I bet you can’t wait to pick it up and see how it fairs to the r35 or previous cars you have had. I’m very jealous if honest lol

Yes, the 9180 would do over 700. I am sure Rod put up a post to say he had gone for a monster GTX40...something, what Turbo is on it now?

This is what I did for my dad, bought a 65 ton d9l

Then we fitted it up to a scraper and made it all work, it is one of the biggest tractor and box combinations used in the world today

It's now fitted up with a blade and ripper on ready for a job in the new year

It was a labour of love for me, like a last thing I could do for my dad when he passed away
and it celebrated the 50th anniversary of the contracting company that started in 1967

I have bought it with the efr 9180 on it, I think rod had a gt4202 or something like that for insane power levels.

I miss my supra mate, not as fast as the gtr but alot more fun, rods car is very light by comparison so assuming it has grip I think it will be a close call above 60 mph, I'm very excited been many years since I've driven a Cossie

Just to see 140 mph flag up at pod would make me smile irrelevant to what the time is
Most I got in the supra was 134 mph iirc

Gtr isn't built for alot of santa pod launching the transmission won't take it, but the jag diff and tremec box in the saph should be fine, just for shits and giggles

Flippin ell that is going to be some spec...not cheap either.

Mine is likely to be 600 ish on my 2.2 as I am using a much smaller Turbo. But I do have 3.9 and close ratio box with shorter gears and 16 inch wheels. I think it is a few hundred kilos lighter than a Cossie though (and 4wd)

That’s the thing with this car, it was always pretty much geared up with a high diff ratio for top speed.
I bet even changing that would transform the car

Yeah but it did work like that and it was shockingly fast and as rod would say it was the gearing that helped with traction

I don’t know the car as well as you do obviously but I find that hard to believe mate, Lee Tib was still quicker at acceleration and quarter stuff with hundreds of less hp.

I know each was a totally different setup.

I think at that kinda power and with a monster turbo without a sequential box the acceleration will never be blisteringly quick

Cheers Paul

Lees car was set up for drag action and he was a master at it. Rods was a road car with no changes to run those acceleration runs pure road car settings. You can tell it had more power as it pulled 138mph in the 1/4mile

third gear upwards so no noz under 85mph. From memory it was Est at just over 700hp on the 200mph runs. See if Rods fastest Cosworth site is still up. Lots of info on it.

totally agree, that’s what I’m saying.

But even then on the gt35 and nitrous setup Rod was still running the taller gearing I believe??

I think it will be very interesting too see the car mapped on full boost with good power. See what some real world times in gear are with your timing equipment. A lot are interested in 0-60 1/4 mile time. As a huge power rwd car I’ve never really see them as it’s strong point. Don’t get me wrong it was quick lol. I always thought it’s strong point was up on the move 3rd and 4th on wards it was always shocking how fast it got a move on and wouldn’t stop pulling. In them situations as well I don’t think it had any huge traction issues in the dry on the road

I think it’s safe to say we are all interested in the power and times it produces once Carl makes it his own and is happy with it.

Gives eveyone else some time to get our cars all up and running too lol

‘I have spoken to people who went out in it and heard stories of beating Ferrari’s, 1000cc sports bikes and 180mph+ on a certain ring road.....

it is great that the car has such a rich history

I bet it will slay a few Scoobies in future...not that you meet many on the road anymore which is a shame. Where did they all go as they sold loads and used to be a common sight?

The vbox will be out in quick succession mate

30-130 and 60-130 are great tests for these kind of cars

Always got the option to fit a 3.9 in it if I can't get on with it, my r33 had a very big first gear but I still managed I think a 3.6 0-60 in it, il have to take a look at the files should be some in my r33 thread on here
