Dumb question now! Have located the sensor - what is the gap that needs to be set?
Is it the gap between the sensor and the lobes on the crank pulley?
The gap on this one is more like 8mm than 0.8
Am I just being a plank?

yes Phil, the gap between the sensor end face and the surface of the 4 target pegs on the pulley. (check on all 4 because they are likely to be slightly different, set the sensor position to 0.8mm max )

Thanks Rich!
Seriously though - you could get your hand between the sensor and the pulley!
Having looked at it - I think the oil dripping off it cant be helping either
