Default 185 mph Vauxhall Astra VXR

185 mph in a Vauxhall Astra VXR, how does that compare with other top seed runs done by some of the big power Ford cars FWD, RWD or 4x4 ?

Depends on distance, track etc uphill, downhill, hurricane behind it etc

But a verified 185mph is a pretty good speed

That would mean it's faster than Luca fiesta which was 181 mph I think or it could be 187 mph now thinking about it , either way it's very fast for a fwd car and close to the uk record.

Kendrew Barracks on the 12/05/2018, using their runway which so I am told is 2 miles end to end so over a distance of about a mile, several runs done all in the 184, 185, 184 mph range, V-Box system used to record performance and speeds
A road legal. metal panelled, fully glazed with electric windows but stripped out interior.

Were they not running around 1.2 miles or more at Vmax ?

VBox data would be able to tell you exactly what distance was used.

Google Earth shows it as around 1.72 miles long though for the main runway, 1/2 mile is still a good distance to slow down

What is the UK record if any ?

Standing mile 185 mph
0-60 5.52s
0-100 9.34s
1/4 mile 13.21s

The distance measured might have been a mile, but the amount of wheel spin I think the from wheels covered more like a mile and a half

The 0-100 time is pretty fast but the 0-60 looks like they had some trouble getting the power down.

Masses of wheel spin, I have suggested launching in reverse and doing a 'J' turn, but when I say this no one take my comments seriously...................I wonder why.

Those Astra's seem to go well with some mods, but seem to need forged rods at fairly moderate power. A shame the gearbox is so weak though. I know someone who is building a monster 2.2 lump. Think he said it should be 700bhp+ when done.

185mph is not to be sniffed at.

It takes a whole lot of horsepower to go from 185mph up to Ł
207mph

My old cerbera used to read 180mph but I don't think it was ever much over 150mph, the needle used to just waggle around Lol

Good top speed this Astra.
It’s 800hp on race fuel and 700 on pump this car.
Toby will be pleased it’s on an efr too, nice to see a big go car putting down some times/speeds too lol

Cheers Paul

Shame they don’t do a ford version of this event.
If the Vauxhall boys can arrange something like this then surely the ford fans could...

I'm guessing he was at the recent Vmax ? rather than a Vaux event ?

I'm sure if you had enough people and spoke to Straightliners, they could arrange something. They hold all sorts of events all through the year, although their big speed events are mainly bikes.

Or possibly Javelin do a few too.

I think it would be difficult to get numbers now perhaps. The enthusiasm in Ford circles seems to have dried-up for this sort of thing, especially among the owners of the older stuff. Most of the 80s/90s stuff is locked away because it's too valuable. There must be some potent RSs and STs out there though.

I assume you've never been to the Kingdom of Fife? Similar but there's more fat and tight leggings and the skin on shows more orange

675hp on v-power and 798 on race fuel.

Yes it’s a 9180, on a Nortech manifold and link management.

Tuned by Owen developements.
