Unhappy Opie Oils

Am I the only member of this website who’s had a bad experience with Opie Oils? Their reviews are almost universally good; but my experience is, well, different . . .

I ordered various oils, grease, brake fluid, and filters on Jan 20th to service my Cosworth and Focus. When the package arrived, it was missing the 5 litres of Millers 5w-50 for the Cossie. So I emailed them and politely asked if they could look into this. No response; so I sent a follow-up email a couple of days later. Still no reply. So I sent a third email complaining about the lack of response. So far, there’s still the same deafening silence . . .

Do they have a temporary communication problem, or is this their usual standard of ‘customer service’?? I'd be interested to hear other members experiences . . .

Hi

Ive been using Opie Oils several times and have never had any problems...always came quick and never missed a thing.

A bit strange about the emails though...?

They've always been good when I've used them

try phoning instead incase there is some issue with emails or something. 01209 202949 is the customer service number on their site.

Thanks to you all for these responses. I tend to avoid phone calls because I have hearing problems (must be too many noisy exhausts . . ). Anyway, still nothing from Opie, so I've ordered the Millers from another company. I'm now £33 the poorer, but in future will be a bit more careful about who I order from . . .

That's good of you to offer. Maybe if you could just ask them to reply to my emails, that might get things moving, so I'd really appreciate that . . .

I'll let you all know what happens. Hopefully just a communication failure somewhere along the line!

Always been great, I expect your emails are getting stuck in a spam filter. May block stuff from outside the uk.

Send a letter if calling is difficult or take Rsmat up on his kind offer above

Always had good dealings with them, maybe genuine mistake due to it being multiple items and emails not working?? Personally think you’ve jumped the gun in regards to buying it from elsewhere when they could of sorted it for you.

They used to spout a lot of crap on forums, but I've ordered a few times and service has always been pretty good.

Actually just ordered some oil earlier from them.

If none of your emails have been responded to, then it's likely an email problem, rather than them not actually responding to them. ie for some reason they are not receiving them. Although I dont recall ever having to email them myself.

Defo give them a call

Thanks to y'all for the comments, and particularly to RSMat for contacting Opie Oils on my behalf. It certainly seems that the problem I've had were an aberration rather than typical . . .

I will be contacting them (hopefully!) to sort out what happened, both re. the 'missing' oil and the communication issues, so we can head off this happening again . . .

Well, I'm not sure I could still be classified as a lad . . . Maybe a VERY OLD lad (I'm 70!) . . . But hey, why should the young have all the fun?!
