the wifes got a 2013 st180 and one of the headlights is playing up,when you first start the car the drl lights up then instantly goes out and stays like that, any ideas? i could understand it if it didnt work at all but seems strange how it does initially work,of course its a sealed in unit so cant take anything apart even

Is that just DRL goes out or headlamp doesn't work either?

Maybe Earth connection to the unit?

I’m guessing it’s a trip to the breakers mate. Sounds like the leds are on their way out for some reason

if both headlights have the same plug try plugging in the one you know works and start it up.should at least let you know the state of the suspect headlight
obviously need someone to keep hold of the headlight to save it marking paint etc

It will be a short somewhere, the lamp control module will have detected this and shut the circuit down. It's probably inside the lamp unit itself. I had this on my old mk4 Mondeo, a dodgy sidelight bulb knocked out all lights on one side but would flick on for a second every time before going out. New bulb sorted it but as I'm sure you are aware not much you can do with the leds!
