Hey all!
It rebuild time with more power and so i wanted to research which clutch everyone is using on a Focus RS mk1 with 300 bhp plus - im looking at the AP paddle but thats only rated to 373 Nm is that enough? ill be going for maximum 350 bhp no more...
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated -
On a previous zetec turbo i tried the AP Paddle and was good but had rather high biting point - is this correct?
thanks people hope you are all well

It's the torque that will kill a clutch rather than raw bhp
We were going to fit that Sachs full face clutch to our Focus but with an expected torque figure of at least 380 lbs/ft we decided to go with the Sachs 4 paddle (rated to about 745nm) just to be sure
Anything up to that 380 lb/ft torque figure should be ok for the Sachs full face, but some have said it's a bit heavy in operation

I had a AP Racing 6 paddle clutch in my FRS at first and I hated it...but it did cope with 330hp just fine...it was just pants for town driving
When we upped the power to 430hp, I decided to use a Sachs uprated organic clutch...this was the best clutch I used giving an OEM feel, yet coped with the power with zero issues whatsoever...town driving was lovely and could launch it off the line multiple times without any problem!
I think my one came from car parts express from memory

ok so an update: i noticed this Sachs clutch for sale on ebay second hand and the seller states its slipping at 420bhp? Same as mine , ive been stripping car looking for slave cylinder leak as there was residue in box - in th end it was rocker gasket - and left it as is but with slip on top end boost, if that makes sense, but having seen this ebay auction obviously my question now is which is the best clutch for 420 bhp?
Thanks!
Thanks!

We originally bought the Sachs Full face clutch, but decided in the end to go for the Sachs 4 paddle unit instead as that's rated to ~700nm.
It's been fine with the old map (401bhp/366lbft) for over a year, and first indications are that it's fine with the new mapping (480bhp/440lbft)

As ive mentioned before and the one guy on here that knows me personally , lols, i am my own worst enemy lol - basically since fitting brand new driveshafts ( till now ive never had a focus with decent ones) ive had this so called problem of clutch slip - well my mate got in the car the othr day and we has like " you dick head your car is wheel spinning cause of the power" ha ha ha ha - so everything is good - by the way - what is up with the effin MSD coil packs - they are so terrible lol - switching back to standard coils....all error lights gone! - idles perfect aswell - my smart charge loom was effed and where i kept sanding down terminals they wouldnt grip/contact battery properly and was giving me electrical/idle probs... all sorted now
