Good plan, no point spending loads of money if it's like a teabag underneath.

Talking Mental Mk5 conversion.

Hey all, I have a Mk5 Fezza 1.3 Endura on X plate.
I absolutely love the car, but recently had a flooding incident, which has left the car seriously down on power.
People keep telling me I should swap out the old lump for a 1.7 Puma engine, however.
If I'm going to go to all the effort of changing the spec, then I want to go all out and go ST spec.
My question is, what would I actually need to do to fit in the 1.6 Ecoboost?
Will I need to modify the shell or would it be a fairly straight forward procedure?
Has anyone already done it?
I have some time as I need to save for a while to afford the engine, ecu and wiring loom, but of course before that I need to upgrade the brakes and suspension, which I'd already planned on regardless of engine.
Any and all help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think it would be a great conversion if your shell is decent enough

I remember a lad having a 1.7-powered Fiesta years ago. Even when the engine was standard, I seem to remember thinking that it went quite well for what it was. Another friend uses a 1.7 Puma for track days and it is remarkably capable with only some very basic upgrades!

She's not in bad nick, but I'm off to view a garage next week, the plan is to take the old girl off the road for the next two years, strip her down and completely rebuild. I've been offered a decent little Zetec S 1.6 with gearbox, ecu and loom so gonna stick that in for now and see about trying the ecoboost when they've hopefully come down in price a bit, lol. I plan on keeping the car forever all being well, so plenty of time lol.

I used my 1.7 puma on a track day and tbh on the straights it was a bit pants but through the corners it was keeping up with a few bmws.

It's what I've always loved about Fiestas tbh. Even the base ones are pretty awesome in the corners

My first car was a puma engined mk5 zetec S that I modded to just over 150bhp and was a fast car not just cause it was my first car but the things I raced and should never have kept up with. Did the 4.25 final drive conversion and fitted an lsd. Did a track day at silverstone and had a great time playing cat and mouse with mk2 rs', they'd pull away on the straight and I'd go by on the corners lol.

Just wished my apprentice wage at the time could of stretched to better quality suspension rather than the AP coilovers but I did the best I could at the time.

Must have been fun though? Yeah one of the first things I put on the shopping list was some adjustable coilovers and big discs lol

Also, is there any difference in sub frame and mounts between the 1.3 Endura E and the 1.6 Zetec S? Or will it go straight in?

I never did make a decision on what i was going to do with the fiesta, it passed the mot then i put it away in the garage and haven't moved it since.
zetec turbo is definitely worth looking into but the puma conversion is so much more simple for someone like me. Then i think is the puma conversion really worth doing for 25hp?

Zetec turbo is the eventual plan Then one day maybe the ecoboost when they come down in price a bit, lol. I'd take her out for a spin and see how she's running

Got an ST170 lump in my mk5 fiesta on throttle bodies. Goes well enough on the standard 1.3 endura box but changing it to 1.7 ratios with the 1.6 final drive over winter.

ST150 brakes go straight on and all of my 15s go over them no bother.

recon there’s a High 13sec 1/4 in it yet too with the ratio change and diff. Managed a 14.4 @96 on its first run out to pod

Just upload direct to passionford by posting a message and clicking on the little icon that looks like a square with 2 little triangles in it.
what does it handle like? If you could upload some pics that would be cool!

Cool as fook Fiesta that. Did you have to make an engine mount for it for the engine to mount to the chassis leg??

That's impressive! I wish you had a build thread for it, what was involved? other than fiesta and st170, what other parts were needed?

It’s just a test rig to help me reverse engineer and test the focus Rs ecu.

The Zetec is a bit to heavy really. I doubt the V6 is much heavier.

Good video and very nice set up you have, it would look even nicer in the front of my fiesta! Haha
did i read somewhere before that at 220 hp using a standard black top this can be done for around £1k?
