Is that just for a renewal?
If so, it's the norm. I pay about £300-350 on a 3.0 Maverick, including Olaf meerkat.
Best to shop around, and avoid flux (especially if you don't have mods).

The plans for whiplash payouts is actually to cut them down too a fixed tariff of around £475.00 from the average payout of around £3,000.00 at the moment. Solicitors costs for making the claims have also been slashed to £500 plus VAT, so the insurers are saving a WEDGE of cash since 2013, yet premiums are on the rise still. The actual amount of claims have also dropped since 2007, but they won't tell the general public that.
The only thing going up is the cost of future loss for very large claims, things like losing a limb when ongoing care and assistance is required, but insurers have had it easy on that for far too many years anyway, and knew this was coming.

Hi,
Whilst insurance has gone up considerably in the last 12 months if you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to to take another look at your renewal for you.
Regards,
Dan.

I've got my Saph insured with Adrian Flux and the same happened to me, their renewal quote went £400 to over £600. I shopped around and was amazed to find a quote for a little over £200. Rang Flux to tell them I'd found a cheaper quote and they matched it. They didn't even check, just took my word.
I'd tell them you've had a cheaper quote.

im trying to get insurance on a E46 320d and the lowest is £1165 and the highest was £9.5k
Told my exisitng insurer it has been modified with a roof spoiler and they wouldnt even insure me so gonna have to take it off and return it to standard to have any hope of insurance.
Was so much easier back in the day when i was at uni as we didnt have anything on the car for which we only paid 30 quid for and that lasted us for a year travelling up and down the M40 lol. How times have changed

Depends which way you look at it. It's all based on stats, and there's a higher likelihood that you'd get a new, old, or otherwise lesser skilled driver behind the wheel of a Fiesta. Plus a lot of that model/engine out there.
Because of that, I reckon there's a number of tasty claims each year, making a 1.4 TDCi a higher claim risk than a rare car that is more associated with enthusiast or higher skilled drivers.
It's only really a drama if you associate insurance costs with a car's value or performance (which isn't the full picture).

Anyone seen the vid on youtube a guy with an F40 and he lets his mate have a drive, he rang the insurance to see how much it would cost to let his mate have a go,
excess for 1 day £250,000 and he can only drive for 10 miles..
thats what they say on the video anyway..

Last august i went with direct line, called them direct. Ok they were £14 more expensive than a comparison site, but direct line are pretty good in the event of a claim i have heard.
I payed £235 for a mk3 focus st estate, i have about 14 years ncb tho and live in a decent area.
When my 3dr was wrote off i was with HIC, all mods declared and fully comp etc. HIC are part of the flux group and it took over 9 months to get a payout for the car, and just under 2 years for injury claim to be settled. That fucked me as they told me i would have a payout within 14 days, so got a loan and bought a new car with the intention of paying it off when the cash came through, only it didnt.
Useless cunts, and i wont ever use HIC or flux again, and in my first few years of driving Flux/HIC had many thousands of pounds off me for insurance, but i never needed to make a claim.

just got my renewal thru £432 for a mk5 fiesta going onto a 2 years no claims bonus, sadly lost my 5yr bonus went back to 1yr in 2015 when i hit a bmw
painful brand new one as well, he had over £1000 worth damage to his back bumper and i had £20 light and £10 grill to replace and spent the weekend sanding and respraying my bumper sliver again, i was seriously unlucky to hit him i was pulling out across a large dual carriage way road and he hesitated to go i just caught corner of his back bumper. could of been worse but would of been better if he was driving a fiesta as well and settled it with £50quid in cash but oh well. i went on gocompare tonight and cheapest quote was 650 so i be sticking with people im with (prilvage) i used to be with direct line but im told there the same company, i changed it last year as they gave me a cheaper quote with a 1yr bonus. was £401 last year so only a 30quid increase. gutted though my insurance before accident was only £300 prob gone down to 250 once i got my 5yr bonus i was only 2 months away from it so talk about being gutted!! fuck them bmw drivers but i did take piss out of him over the phone when i said i fixed my car for £40 i told him maybe you should consider a ford mate its cheaper to fix, he was asking me for £1000 in cash i said no claim on my insurance, prick

For that £1000, you could have maybe haggled to £800, might have been worth it as now you'll be paying for it for 5 years as you have to declare it and then there's the loss of your ncb on top of that. So that prick was maybe doing you a favour.

the prick could of got it resprayed sliver for £100 that what he told me but his wife demanded whole new bumper from bmw dealer which cost almost £1000 i also did not have that kind of money at the time as i just got back into uk after being stuck in my wife country (long story) just started a new job i did not have £800 lying around plus i had my 1st child on the way i told him all this, but no no he had to have new bumper put on as respray might not fully match the other sliver even though it was a piece of plastic at the bottom of the car.... so yeah he was a prick.... even the insurance company did say at the time even though i was technically in wrong as i went into the back of him they did say if you were clear to pull out then why was he not clear to pull in at the same time? that i will never know he said he hesitated to go because he saw a car up a head coming down the road very fast (either that or he was busy on his phone) but the truth is he did have time to pull into same road i was pulling out from but obv still my fault for not seeing him in time (i have seen worse accdident in same spot a few month back with 3 cars written off so i count my blessings as it clearly a accident hot spot as its impossble to pull out as road is 60mph speed limit) but my first and only accident and i am a safe driver! The fact that no car was written off tells you that it wasnt a very bad accident in scheme of things, i was truely unlucky to hit such an expensive car and yeah your right i will most likely be paying for more for years to come now but insurance quote i got after accident only went up by £20 so i did not see it being higher once i got back to a 2yr NCB, either way im stuck with same insurer for a while as they are only one giving me a decent quote at £430

to be fair if I had a new big bmw I wouldn't go to a back garage to get it patched up on the cheap either !
I don't get how you were clear to pull out when you weren't. if you were clear there would have been no accident?

yeah one of those things where i wish i had a dash cam im still convinced he rolled his car backwards because i def clear to go when i went. yeah im sure he didnt wanna go to a backend garage thats why i told him to claim on my insurance as i not giving 1000 pounds of my money that i did not have to be honest if thats worse that happens to me on the road all my life i just be greatful im pretty sure if any other car it would of been a cash in hand job but not a grand , last year my quote was 370 after accident year before 350 but now back to a 2yr bonus its jumped to 430 :/ so i dunno im told insurances are going up anyway?

as soon as they started to reconise the saff as a classic car my went from 500 p/a to 180. i cant understand how most insurance companys survive if often wonder if your first term with them is a bit of a lost leader for them hoping to keep hold of you to increase your premium and then there on the money. my astra this year the AA wanted 300 we didnt change last year. but the first quote on a comparison site more than halved it. my house contents etc was is a reason never to stay for more than one term i stayed with them for 15 yrs. when i evetualy shopped arround the c..ts had managed to half my cover for twice the premium of anyone else

I recently moved from my folks literally same time 5 mins down the road car still kept off road on a drive but its a drive for many cars as its a block of flats with its own car park the change of address shoots my insurance up an extra £300 so insane why would 5 minutes down the road in the same town make that much if a difference? looks like i have to keep the car at my folks and walk up the road if thats the case to save myself on the insurance cost

just got an online quote on a comparison website for a Mercedes c350 I'm thinking of buying, £460 from my current insurer hastings direct. that's not bad although the road tax is more than the insurance ! not much more going from my current 2.1 litre to this 3.5 litre.

when a company takes you for a mug by bumping up your renewal hoping you wont notice id leave anyway for trying to rip you off in the first place even if I did have to pay a little more.
