focus 1.6 petrol smoking?
Afternoon ladies an gents, quick question,
when sat in traffic after being idle for a while I had blue smoke under load for a about 30 seconds, now it only happens after the engine has been sat running for a bit but soon clears but get nothing if you have been driving, do any of you lot think it could be valve stem seals or something more sinister? I was just thinking if it was rings then id get smoke all the time
the car is a 2002 1.6 petrol although it has done 150k

PassionFord Post Whore!!
If the engine has never had any work done to it with that sort of mileage 2 main reasons could be valve stem oil seals or worn rings. If it is piston rings it would smoke under load all the time. with valve stem oil seals more likely to smoke when you first start it up as the oil has had time to seep down past the valve stem.

Cant see any smoke on over run I did look earlier, but I did just start it after leaving it for a couple of hours and gave it a quick rev straight away and got smoke that cleared so hoping its just the stem seals, never done them on a zetec-se but cant see them being an issue
