10k-what car?
I have 10k to spend on an everyday car. But no idea what to get. I want something fairly new, with a good bit of poke and good reliability. Can you guys throw some ideas out to me? Im not too fussed on weather its petrol or doesel or number of doors etc
Thanks in advance

Audi A4 range, BMW E92 3 series...good cars and lots for the money
330D or 335 BMW in I or D is a good car, also the 135i BMW coupe is a lot of fun and I bet there are a lot of hatch M135i s around, I had one and loved it, really fast and a chip and intercooler gives 420 bhp.

Yeah, that is a lot of car for your money...you can get 4x4 and Estates too cant you?
I bought a 1 yr old Police car Oct VRS back in 2004 to break it as it had been rammed by a baddie, it still drove perfectly but had to be broken as part of the police Insurance something or other so I put the engine and box in a mk1 Golf Caddy.
I was really impressed with the quality and it was all Audi or VW labelled parts coming out....you could just buy an Audi or Golf cruise control stick, tell the computer it was there and it worked!

I'd go for a petrol estate at that price. Even the boot on the hatch is massive though, great family cars and like you say, its all VAG underneath, i did over 100k in a 2006 model and apart from servicing and consumables the only thing i had to replace was an abs sensor. Great motors, if they did the new 4x4 estate with either a petrol engine or diesel with a 7 sp DSG i'd have another like a shot

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
For something small I'd look at a Clio 200 Cup, for something that needs to cover more miles a Beemer 330d. I like the Octavia too but prefer the later model which will cost a wee bit more.

I am sure an octavia is a good all rounder, just a shame they are dull as ditch water. My mum and dad have a 61 plate one. Ok car to drive, comfy enough, big boot etc but there is absolutely nothing that would make me want to own it. Unless being a cabbie is my next profession

This man knows what he's talking about with the mazda 3 mps. 260 bhp the mk2 has all the toys heated seats sat nav, climate control, auto wipers, auto lights and a bose sound system which sounds great.
I love mine to bits.

I test drove the mps and a focus st. Went for the ST as the mazda just felt flimsy, doors were really thin and tinny. It felt very plasticky inside and I didn't think the seats were particularly comfortable. The ST is also much more tuneable, simple bolt on parts can see it over 300bhp.

There are some good mods for the mps now that can see them to 300bhp without too much problems if that's your thing.

Yep deffo a good all rounder, OP said everyday car so it's a good shout, reliable, practical, turn of pace. To be fair the vag group stifle the performance so they don't outsell the sporty golfs and Leon's but they chip very well. Always get sound ratings when pistonheads/EVO etc have them long term.
For a 10k performance car for occasional use you could deffo do better

Not that I'm aware of, think you're getting confused with the problems Audi has with its 2.0 diesels in the a4

They've went up quite a bit, I've took the notion for an 8 mr and they used to be 12k for a good one now about 15k. Basic fq models don't interest me, ohh and don't knock imprezas there's some cracking JDM only models out there, much better than the watered down crap we get anyway.
