fxxkex off!!
Drove 2.5 hrs yesterday to view a rs1800 with the intention of driving it away. In previous phone conversations with the owner I had stated I didn't want a wasted journey and wasn't interested if it had major rust issues but at the same time I appreciated it was over 20 years old.
he assured me the car was sound and the only rust on the car was on the frame which held the spare wheel. It had also had some minor welding done underneath by a professional.
well, after 15 mins of viewing it was obvious the car was complete scrap, the sills disintegrated in my hands, there was a hole in the boot the size of my hand which went right through the wheel arch to outside but had been filled with foam, the interior was soaking, there was blue paint everywhere, the oiler filler cap was missing ( he said he had just topped the oil up) although previously said it didn't use any oil. All this for £3000!?
I wouldn't of been interested for £1000 having seen it, not worth repairing. What a timewasting fucking idiot
anyway, happy new year!

What a plank, I think some people don't realise and others are born liars.

here's the car in question, I dread to think what it was like behind the body kit, it was well and truly stuck on. I had no chance of getting a look behind that. The side skirts had been riveted on/some rivets were Into nothing so I imagine theres not alot of the sills left. Sounded like a good car on paper though!

My 1.9 gti was a mess when I got it, I negotiated the price down a lot over the phone but when I turned up to get it I felt ripped off, I was in two minds to walk away but it was so cheap the gamble was worth it, turned out a nice car after £7k of work and paint.

Had the same when viewing a grey fiesta rs turbo down in Newcastle 3 years ago, can't describe how bad it was. Both seat pans snapped, gear linkage had that much play the gear stick actually touched the seats in 1st & reverse. Even the air filter was removed I.e just an open pipe to the turbo and the clown had the cheek to say he could probably bodge something together to make it drivable
That was a car that was describe as very clean, just resprayed and had an engine rebuild.

he said he would of dropped to £2000, I just wasn't interested tbh after what I saw. It certainly wasn't even worth anywhere near that. Imo mechanical issues can be easily replaced within reason, but when it comes to bodywork its a whole different ball game. Certainly not anything I can do myself or justify spending £1000's on an old fiesta, which in this example wasn't really worth a wank.

Yeah, I went from £3k to £1200 and that was before 205's were worth money, to be fair I should have been under £1000 with all the work I had to do.

And I think this or the previous shape is probably my favourite shape fiesta.

Does get annoying when people cant be honest, don realise it would save them time and hassle too in the long run.
Hope the OP finds what he's looking for soon.

Totally agree with that. MK4 is the worst of the bunch. low spec mk1-4 are all ugly. As you go spec'd up the earliest models in the Fiesta range are actually the better looking cars. The MK7/ 7.5 is going looking regardless of spec.. The first ford a Fiesta, I liked them so much I even went out and bought a brand new MK7 Fiesta in 2012.

Looks not bad from the pics apart from the side skirts. He has been cute with the pics though. It fucks me off to be honest when people lie like that. Would never dream of doing it myself as it wastes everyone's time and I would be embarrassed.

Another thing, he had 'hosed it down' just before I had arrived so I couldn't get an idea of what the paintwork was like as it was covered in water.
I thought to ask him not to warm it up before Arrival but never thought to ask him not to cover it with water.

Messere matey. I hate them. When ive sold things in the past ive been as honest as i could.
When i sold my ST17O i described it as tatty. The lad came from Aberdeen and he loved it.

I went with my mate to Essex once to view a saph Cossie. Pictures looked great and had all good upgrades. Got there and all the upgrades had gone and it was a twin cam shell as was red in places (painted imperial blue) and his kids had drawn all over the head lining and the chassis number on drivers floor had been welded in
