I was interested to know if anyone remembers a guy called Steve Bennett used to run a black sapphire cosworth at santa pod , it ran in the 11s back then . I think it may have been in a Performance Ford mag shootout . Would like to see some pics and spec .

Was this the guy who launched to 60 in 2.99 seconds or similar ( whether it was a timing error I don't know ) - just remember the figures being talked about?

yes I used to work with him and watched him taking off up the road in the mornings. Was the highlight of my mornings. Not sure what he's up to now as the company is no longer there as far as I know it was knocked down in the majority. I left the company before that happened and not sure what happened to the majority of people.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Always wonder how a car fitted with a T4 could achieve such a fast time, how would you eliminate the turbo lag?
Makes you also ask if these times were achievable using an ancient turbo like the still great T4, what's the point of Borg Warner/gt series/ball bearing hobbies??
Or was there more to it?

Over in malta they run 10,s no bother with 500+hp rwd cosies, theres a 3door that's done 8.5 1/4 but that looks to run ladder bars and an auto box.

Love this car, seen it launch , had hell of a squat when it did, do have the feature of it in fast ford mag somewhere.

Im sure the fastest times were set on a t34 with nitrous, when the t4 was fitted im sure the engine let go so was never really tested with more power when running correctly. He used to post on here quite regular.

Yeah Lee's saff was around the early 400 mark with a bit of nitrous and 37lb of boost on a T34!

Performance Ford ran a Hall of Fame every month giving all the fastest times they ever recorded.
On a t4 with pump fuel my old banger ran 0-60 4.09 : 0-100 7.15 : 11.5 @ 138 quarter & 201.8 max.
It makes interesting reading. Lee was quicker off the line than mine. He was geared for 180 mine for 210mph+. He was called twinkle toes for a reason.

It's really impressive these 3-4s 0-60 times in an old laggy 2wd car, no launch control, traction control, flappy paddle or electronic diffs that they all bum about these days on new cars.

With 840bhp mine did 0-100mph in 6.86secs but the 0-60 got slower. 60-100 in 2.7 secs is rather quick though. All back in days long gone.
