Looks like a cracking bit of engineering. I've heard of the golf ball effect being used on inlets but never on the head itself. Who did the work Bart?

It was done by Veicomer. The dimples improve flow and atomatisation of the fuel which should give more power.
It was already a big valve rallycross head which i got reworked with extra porting and berrilium valve seats. Also has mechanical followers and rallycross spec cams which have huge lift.
Have to build my bottem end now.
Already have a nicasil linered block with 10 long studs and billet main caps.
Thinking of stroking with 84mm crank to get 2,2 liter engine with twin scroll 9174 turbo.
Also building a one off inlet manifold with ITB and MIS cover.
Should give good power and response.

I want to see the colour of your pants when it's driven in the wet

Lovely bit of engineering, bet it took some time putting them dimples in, was it done by hand or machine?

CNC machine, dimpling and porting was done this way.
All ports are identical.

Looks fantastic

Must have been a real pain to get all the dimples in there !

Why use berrilium valve seats ? are you using Titanium valves ?

It handles the heat better then normal seats. I am not using titanium valves.
I already had the big valves so reused them.

That is a very well engineered cylinder head, not seen the dimpling done before but if it helps performance why not. Your engine specification sounds like big BHP? Your 2wd Saff will certainly get up and go when your new engine is installed.Should certainly suprise a lot of newer cars!!

we used to dimple inlets on super bikes ,it speeds air flow thats why a golf ball goes so far

Did you do a back to back test as a inlet port isn't a golf ball lol.

yes we did and hrc in japan and it was an improvement mark, have you tried it
and didnt see improvements , a golf ball still has air passing over it so same theory , a f1 car or moto gp bike isnt a plane but still has wings lol

Not tried it as it would ruin a head if it didn't work.

Think someone needs to go back to school, the dimples on a golf ball do not speed up the air. The dimples on a golf ball reduce drag behind the ball thus the velocity is maintained over a longer period.

It still increased the air speed in the inlet when measured

Hey Bart, ziet er fantastisch uit. Gaat een bom worden. Zeker met die turbo. Wat gaat de diameter van cilinderkoppakking worden (92.5) en wat gaat de boring zijn? Grtz Manu

Is it not more to stop fuel dropping out of atomisation in high specific output turbocharged engines?

i can see the theory behind it in the sense in aids atomisation and gives a better enter the cylinder head. ive allways gone by the rule (on 2 strokes) that a polished surface is good in combustion chambers and post combustion for the simple reason it helps reduce carbon deposit build up. on the induction side ive allway beleived a textured finish helps prevent the air/fuel entering the chamber seperatly. wether the dimple theory works or not i only have your word for it but it looks brilliantly excecuted.
