Try earths or the wire attached to handbrake lever its mounted on the side with a push on spade type connector , I've had the handbrake chopping through the single cable so have a good nosey around. Could be many thinks , relays , wiring , dirty connectors , bad earth etc
What cars it on the shape

Cheers paul

just a thought, might be an idea...
the e-brake light should turn on with low brake fluid.
my sapph is a non-ABS, so the brake fluid floater is in the cap. for ABS system can't say sh*t, never saw 'em.
but if it were my car...

if the e-brake light didn't turn on, even with the brake fluid tank cap unbolted and hanged somewhere in the engine bay, i'd exclude the problem from the handbrake switch-system in first place, and i'd say the problem is a connection to the dash...

************************************************** ***********************
it also might be useful... :
for reference, while on my project, i tried to make a picture of the ford ghia 87bb-10k843-cb dash board pins. (lhd car, rhd might be the same??)
this one:

from top to bottom:
1 -gnd
2 -tank signal
3 -hot water signal
4 -tacho impulse
5 -+12V
6 -dash night illumination
7 -brights on lamp
8 -oil lamp (+)
9 -indicator lamp
10-indicator lamp
11-brake lamp
12-battery lamp

i figured out myself. with almost no experience with electric, (at that time, i may had inverted 1- gnd and 5- +12 pins)...

if it's not the same as yours, the pin order can easily be drawn by treading the tracks on the rear of the dash, from the pin to the utilizer, (seen your project doga-ot, it'll be a piece of cake for you).

hope being helpful.
let us know once you got through it...
good luck with it mate!

Yep when i put hazards on only red hazard button flashes so must supposed to be like that but i assumed that the parking light would be on until handbrake was taken off!

Yeah that's how the hazards are supposed to be on saphs. Parking Brake light could be what the other chap said the connection on the side or damaged wire, gotta be able to rule out the bulb as you've changed many clocks over. Easy to check if u take a look around the handbrake

Correct and so there is nothing wrong in this respect.

As to the other warning light, it should illuminate upon the ignition being switched on after the car has been stood, as the pressure will be low. So maybe it has a bad ground?
