Dam right, fucking love the Lotus Carlton.
Cue people saying RS500s are collectors cars etc and theyre worth their price range as there is demand for it or similar chat

They are certainly a car to want and lust over, very unique and very capable. I think the price is relatively low as parts are very rare, a lot of parts have to be made. Stunning car tho, look hard as nails on the road, and the seats are very nice, make saph cossie ones look tiny!

Very nice indeed! I was talking to the owner of one on a facebook group the other day, said parts are pretty much impossible to get hold of now, and super expensive (think or the RS tax and double it!). For the money i'd probably go for n R34 GTR though, cause I'm of the playstation generation.

I was very tempted buy one of these before i bought my 500 a few years ago but as said above the cost of parts was mad due to them being specific to the lotus which put me right off as i tend to do a few miles.Would love to have a go in one as been higher up my wish list than the cos for years.

I used to love the GSI versions of these, the one for sale at the dealers will chance to be the one that sold at The Silverstone classic auction a couple of months back for 20k.

And you guys think Cossies rust !! These evaporate even quicker. Find a good one and they are a great car. Saw it when it was released at the Earls Court motor show. They were the show stopper that year with the massive exhausts and huge rear tyres.

Them Merc's are very very special cars if I was a rich man I'd have one for a sunny sunday. But I do prefer the 2.3 evo it's more subtle than the 2.5

Love the Lotus Carlton myself, there is also a cheaper one up for Ł20.5k which I've had my eye on for a bit.

Parts can be tricky to find but as with ALL classic cars if you know where to look bits can be found, if not, new can be made or equivalent items sourced. Yes after all these years rust is an issue under the bodykit if not already remedied but look at 911's and E30 M3's etc, they also have rust issues so no different to other classics in that respect.
Only 284 RHD cars were sold in the UK. Quite a few have been stolen or crashed so numbers have certainly dwindled. As a link to the parts scenario, those that have not been looked after also provide spares for the ones still going when they get broken up.
I'm also surprised that prices haven't gone crazy like other classics yet but it will happen and finding a mint low mileage collector car really is rocking horse do-da's. There are quite a few internet rumours that probably scare people off but find a car that has been looked after, with everything working as designed and they really are a mega piece of kit.
