Default Shipping gearboxes

I need to send two gearboxes to someone and am looking into the best way to do it. A pallet seems logical and on www.parcelbroker.co.uk I've been quoted £36+VAT which doesn't seem too bad to me.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences in case I can do better?

I'm surprised you found a courier to do it TBH, when I wanted to send a gearbox last year I really struggled to find a company that would transport it due to the potential for oil related spillages. Even though the box hadn't had oil in it since being reconditioned.

I eventually found Speedshift, http://www.speedshift.co.uk/palletquote.asp

Yes, a little more research has found that parcelbroker.co.uk won't take gearboxes which is very useful.

Have looked at the two above and Speedshift come out the cheapest at £55. Should be able to get both boxes on one pallet I hope!

List it as machine parts and enclose it in a wooden crate.

But ensure it is secured properly...I'm not a bit surprised places dont accept engines or gearboxes as far too many idiots send them out full of fluids, not secured or packaged correctly then they make a mess everywhere.
