Every car I've ever sold on eBay has caused dramas. Whether it was people bidding who didn't turn up, emailed after they won to say they couldn't get insured, someone who bought another car on route(!) or turned up and offered £600 cash on a £1300 winning bid and just walked off when I said no.

How comes your selling up mate, thought you was looking forward to getting it back on the road?

Use piston heads if I was you and it's free if you have been a long time member.

You don't pay a 10% fee on vehicle sales, it is £10 to list then 1% with a max of £35 fee after.

I listed my Subaru as a classified on pistonheads and eBay, lots of interest from both, plenty of chancers too mind, expect everyone to think they are a keyboard version of Richard Rawlings and offer you half then wonder what your problem is when you tell them to get fucked

GLWS by the way op, I'm constantly pondering if I should sell mine or not...

Ive got my fiesta turbo on there as a classified add and the amount of idiots that have been in touch with no cash is unreal. Ive had people arranging viewings etc and not even turning up.
Actually considering just keeping it.

The interwebs really does allow the armchair time waster a fantastic platform to piss us genuine folk off who enjoy changing their cars now and again... Which one is yours?

Edit,

I did see from your sig that you have that minty mint white one but didn't see it on eBay

bought and sold on ebay for years without issue, never arrange anything to suit someone else always do it so it suits you that way it stops messers as if they are serious they will always do what you want

That's the trouble isn't it when the car is too nice!

The e30 looks mega cool, are you local or way up north? Just wondering if I'm likely to see you driving it about..

I've sold 1 van and 1 truck (L200) on eBay in the last 2 weeks.
Both on classified ads with good pics and a short but accurate description and asking for a good price that I was happy to move on.
The truck sold in 3 days for just under asking price. I had 3 offers via eBay from others I declined, 2 came back with a higher offer but it was sold.
No trouble, he came, he saw, he paid lol.

Even better with the van, again it was on at a very good price, £3k, man came round after 1 week, had a look and drive away paying 2600, the owner would have been happy at 2k but I told him to try his luck and let them knock you down a bit. Both people are happy then.

Both cost £10 each.

sold a cheap car on ebay within the last week, put on as a classified ad,
advertised at 950, had ebay offers ranging from 300-600 quid!
only person to come and look at the car bought it, reached a deal at 850 as the bloke was genuine and polite.
ebay is full of wankers but if someone actually turns up it is fine, it has by far the biggest audience, gumtree is full of scamming wankers, autotrader doesnt seem to have the audience it used to, pistonheads is ok and might do you better for the saph if modified.

Glad I'm not the only one that have found this, I know it's free to advertise but the amount of dickheads you get from there really makes me wonder if it's worth the hassle.

Im never going to use Facebook to sell a car again,,

yesterday i threw a sulk and decided i was selling my s2 rs turbo, put a decent spec list up, a very very cheap price, (stupidly cheap just to get rid quick)

within 3 hours i had over 30 emails each one more irritating than the last!! granted there were a few (maybe 3) genuine people inquiring, but ended up so annoyed with it all the add got taken down, went out to garage and looked at it,, now not for sale

As for eBay I've surprisingly always had good experiances!

Bought my daughter's car from a private sale off Autotrader. I don't know what the fees are like and perhaps not so suitable for more specialist cars (but there are plenty on there). I guess if you are keen to get the most exposure you will want to list on as many sites as possible.
