Default Wiring loom repair

Hi,

Not long bought a BMW 5 Series Touring and it (probably) has got some broken / damaged wiring into the tailgate leading to some small electrical gremlins.. Common issue apparently..

I'm ok with soldering / shrink wrapping and happy to take my time cutting out the damage and re-soldering the loom but not sure what size / gauge / specification of wire I should be buying to match the existing loom..

I have some 24 strand 2mm copper wire but it's only rated to 6amp which seem a little low given a lot of the fuses are 10 / 20 amp and I don't want to set light to my car the first time use the heated rear window.. lol..

Any info greatly received..

ta

Use these instead of separately soldering / heat shrinking. Much easier and will probably last longer. Use them all the time at work and they are a life saver!

You'd need some pretty bright tail lights to warrant even 6A !!!

The only thing that will draw more is possibly a heated rear window...even then it's not like it's on for hours at a time.
