im 31 next month and love driving the s1 turbo and I have a arched mk2 does not bother me in the slightest but I am at the point of if I have a car I drive daily I will just get a decent spec model (I have a 2006 audi a6 s line) and leave it totally standard as I don't want to be associated with the 'sick' brigade
the older cars I like to think see you as an enthusiast I don't even think I could buy a new ford at all but that's just me
I believe age should not matter at all. I'm 38 and I've got a lowered mk2 Mondeo with Cossie alloys and a custom backbox with 4" tailpipe!!
There is no doubt that the Focus ST or a Fezz ST are great cars but as others have already said, they are everywhere.
I would much rather see an old Ford or a modified Ford on the road than any of the latest modern offerings, just because they are different to everything else you see daily!
I too have problems with ST's and new RS's I don't know why, they are always driven by a certain type of guy, wouldn't say chav but more 'pretend' petrol head the ones that only buy a fast car until they meet a woman and settle down then boom the cars sold and they've 'been there done that'.
I like fords but there's no better feeling than spanking a focus st or rs
I don't think there should be any age limit to owning a car, bet there's plenty of guys in their 30's and 40's owning little fiesta rs turbos
That kind of guy is usually a 'LAD' with a peanut head, wears traFckies and came out of high school with no or very few GCSE's. Usually picks up 17 year old girls... Seems to be the life of most Fiesta ST's. Focus RS's seem to be owned mainly by drug dealers in Stoke.
As for old fords, there isn't really many around here.
I was 27 when i zetec turbo'd my mk2 fiesta, i would still drive it now if i still had it, and i am 45 this year. Can't see how age comes into it unless you drive like a teenager that thinks he is ken Block.

So many snobs on this site, labelling anyone with a baseball cap chav scum. Ford owners tend to be of a certain stereotype but they are all people underneath. If these youv people didn't buy fiesta and focus st's and take them to shows we wouldn't have them. It would just be the 30 and 40 somethings with the older rs's complaining about the cost of a burger or the price of the entry ticket!!!!

I don't want that stereotype! I've never worn a baseball cap in my life and I dislike seeing people in them!
The older generation are better, they're more welcoming. They don't just stand there flapping their arms calling every fiesta st that's slammed to within an inch of it's life 'SICCCCCCCCCCKKK'. It drives me insane.
At the ripe old age of 49 (big 50 this year)
I,ve had many cars and worked on all that I,ve owned ,just about to start a new project in a few weeks (puma 1.7 into mk4 fiesta)watch this space ..
Enjoy your car , fix it and mod it ,we all have different tastes

Ive noticed that round here drive through any of the local scumsville benefit class estates and you can spot the dealers a mile off with the car parked outside.

Fix it? I pay someone to do that mate... fuck that, oil and shit all over my hands. I haven't done a mod to it since 2013 and it's highly unlikely I'll do anymore to it.
Enjoy it? Again something I really don't, I get out of a car like mine and It looks so wrong. People think I'm some form of chav and I hate it.

Wow we wont be friends then ive worn baseball caps for many years although at the age of 70 I don't wear them backwards. You are making a sterotype out of not wanting to be sterotyped which is rather neat. Im sure you are very posh & dislike us plebs in our baseball caps but hey who gives a monkeys nuts what we look like we are Petrol heads or is that a Sterotype. Bu*ger im confused.
Well , i'm 44 and bought me a new Fiesta 3 years ago.
Why a Fiesta?
I like the model and it's a very nice car to drive in and i always wanted a turbocharged car
Since i can' t keep anything stock, it's got a few mods under the hood.
Nothing done on the exterior,as i don't like that.
Still goes very well, as everyone who was @ FordFair last year could see.
Don't know how much power it has now, but it was @ 138 hp, before the sportkat and bigger turbo.
Gives me a big smile, every time i let a pos VW see my taillights @ the traffic signs.
So who cares what age you are, just as long as you enjoy driving it

If that is how you feel then you should certainly sell it.
If it's of any interest I had a gent in his early 40's, very smartly dressed book in his 2014 Fiesta ST for a remap today.

Dave
When i was 27 i also had a zetec turbo xr2, miss that but i got sensible and bought a convertible bm, now in a saloon diesel.
Kids led me growing up, but I'd build another, just maybe not so extreme.
Getting over a rollcage would be less dignified now lol!

A bloke at work in his 60s wears a baseball cap when he's driving, looks weird when he gets into his white gt86!!
I turned 45 at the start of March, and drive around in an ST170, which is slightly modified. I still have plans, and would still like to own a 200mph car
Just enjoy what you are happy with, don't let the negative attitude of others cast doubts in your mind. I understand that is harder to do than it is for me to say.
As for you Fiesta, step back from it, and take a long look at it, try to understand what you want from the car, and if you have any other ideas left to explore.
I only say this because I nearly sold my ST170 the other week due to personal problems, but when it finally came to it, I fought to keep it
That's because he don't care what that posh geezer with clean manicured nails Rich123456.5 thinks about him.
It's Rich654... There's a story behind my user name. Secondly because I chose to keep myself clean doesn't mean I get manicures! Perhaps you should try it some time.
Furthermore I was trying to avoid an argument, however I think you're baiting for it. Someone of "70 years old" should know better.

Cheers. I've done that on several occasions and thought, "it's a clean old car, but I really wish it was just standard now"
I've always looked after it, I keep it clean, serviced with decent parts and oils/fluids. If it needs something it gets it. It's the modified aspect I no longer enjoy. I appreciate older Fords, I've always regarded the ST170 highly and always liked the mk1 Focus. Best looking Focus IMO.
I'll always own a Ford, I like them, always have, always will. But I'd love a mk3.5 Focus Titanium X over an ST.
I work with a bloke who is nearly 60 he drives a lovely modified facelift performance blue, focus St and loves it, i say bollocks to what people think, if your happy that's what counts it's not their money your spending, I'm 32 this year but aren't packing in modifying and improving as I enjoy ripping things apart and making them handle better and go faster, if people think I look a twat when I'm driving my longer term project when it's finished I simply don't care
All you have to do is modify it a little more every year....so it's that little bit more intense. I'm 28, and my mk4 fiesta is up to 300bhp now. It'll be an interesting car when I'm 50 haha.

Whys that!! At 50 you will know how to handle the Power, your 50's will be absolutely the prime time of your life take that as a fact. Certainly as ive gotten older I have craved more & more Power. Your right foot controls if you are going to kill yourself not the Power. My Power is extreme but I don't see being 70 it being a problem. Just enjoy it you are here only once its not a rehearsal.
im 35 and im in the process of modifying a mk4 fiesta 1.3 had my license for 18 months and i feel its time to get the spanners out
keep ya car even if its a 2nd car
