Smile Car advert descriptions

Now come on, all of us have had experience with sellers descriptions of there cars not matching the actual car for sale, like the old ones of only driven on sundays by the local vicar, never raced or rallyed, first to see will buy and of course the new additions like Mint or Pristine of which unless your a OCD concours fanatic none of us will ever see as no ford left the factory in that condition lol, just doing some local browsing on the interweb this morning and this car popped up a few miles from me, read the advert and expected to see a future classic as described as "pristine" by its owner , please read and look at the pictures proper lol at this and I know theres many more out there in dreamland

It's greatest feature seems to be it has 3/4 tank of fuel.

Unfortunately everyone is full of shite, the only problem is that if you don't follow suit then you'll always be second best, esp if just selling white goods, I got burnt for the first time ever at Christmas just gone, and bought a car with knackered synchros, and leaking valve stem seals, was advertised as good condition throughout, it ran like shit when I picked it up but the price was really good still so as i'v driven 150 miles to see it I still took a punt at it and one thing that sold it was the body work was actually in really good nick.

I had hardly slept in 3 days so probably not the best form to see a car and he drove it in the test drive, that should of set alarm bells off really, but either way, bit of tlc and the car is turning into a nice motor so it's not all bad and I got a box for Ł100

It's a bit like I never have bought a car from Birmingham as 99% of the time they are absolute shite that was advertised as mint, boils my piss because I like to be honest in a sale for lack of hassle and I'm competing against a bunch of lying dreamers.

I sold a Leon cupra last autum to a dad and his son, dad turn up in his overalls nice blokes but fuck me they spent 2-3 hours scrutinising the car, they wanted to pay second hand money but get a brand new car, I had to grit my teeth as it was getting close to Christmas and didn't want to be lumbered with the car over the holiday period, they really busted my balls on it though, I got the usual, what the lowest you'll take, have them a figure via email, then as soon as they turn up I get "so what's the lowest you will take" again I told him to find a car with the same spec and mileage for less and I'll drop the price he went quite and just looked round the car instead

i remember getting up at an ungodly hour on a sunday morning to go and view a s1 with a mate, it looked absolutely mint in the pictures he'd been sent, and the description said it had a slight blemish on the rear panel, but when we turned up, we saw the whole of the lower rear valance was rotted to fook, as well as other parts of the car. as it turned out he'd used 6 year old photo's to advertise the car, so i duly ripped the car to shreds, my mate made a ridiculously low offer and then we buggered of, complete waste of time

Totally contradicts himself in the description, says its mint and in good nick, the next sentence then he's listing all the stuff wrong and the things in bas condition, which previously he listed as mint, WTF??

I have done it myself dubbs, 2 years back I went to look at a mk5 rs2000 listed as rsoc member car so maintained regardless of cost blah blah, looked cracking in the photos and spoke to seller too asking all the right questions, so drove from nw london to south wales in my buddys car, to then find on first inspection one sill had split apart from floor and one chassis mount was swiss cheese and the other seperated from under floor totally, opened bonnet and lent a little bit of windscreen scuttle panel and it near snapped off totally wrotten to the core, looked at the bloke standing there is his blue rsoc t-shirt and simply said ""Really ??", to which he replied open to a offer , simply walked away and me and mate stu jumped back in car and drove nearly 5 hours home, if I has stayed a moment longer I would have swung for him waisting my time

Ye, gotta be one of the oddest adds I've seen in a while

Remind me the other day i was browsing through on there, came across a 206, and one of the previous owners on the log book was a Fredrick Krugger. Did make me laugh.

Frightfully fast. There quick but not that quick lol.

Its defo a rough example.

I did the same thing years ago. I drove to leeds to look at a focus which was in mint condition. I told the bloke on the phone where i was coming from and he said he would walk round the car on whilst on the phone to me to pick out the bad points.

He must have been looking at the wrong car cause it was rough as fook.

I know mate I'm only yanking your chain. I had an imperial blue one a few years ago. It was a good motor once I got the imrc sorted.

Yep full of shit like half the ads on eBay. In his defence at least he has taken pictures of the defects (or some of them).

Mint has a different meaning these days (apparently), if it's mint or minted then that just means good so maybe that's what he is on about...

I agree about the term mint ^^ but this seller stated "BODY WORK IN PRISTINE CONDITION" and that only has one meaning

Cars a turd and the blokes on glue or crack! Think we've all viewed a dog that's supposedly been mint. I've fallen out with quite a few folks over the years after condemning there car that was "mint"
