Default Renting a workspace

I'm getting itchy fingers to pull my car apart and do smething different but the garage at home is only just big enough to hold the car.

Part of the reason the first build took so long is that I couldn't be arsed moving everything around to get at the bit I wanted to work on, so I'm wondering about renting a unit where I could dismantle the new donor, then my car, and rebuild it using the bits from both.

I may never do this (certainly not if she-who-must-be-obeyed gets wind) but is it sensible and what sort of costs are involved? Ideal locations would be West Lothian/Dunfermline/Kinross.

You'll need somewhere without business rates so ideally private rented. My friend rents a small unit on a farm and it even has a 2 poster in It but that costs him £450pcm, I know a couple of people with units and no ramp on a rural ind farm estate and there only paying like £250 a month for a unit u can get 2 to 3 cars in

I charge people £50 P/M to have a space in the workshop, but we get the space cheap to start.

Probably a lot cheaper than down here in London. But you need to tell yourself that its not an investment, kiss goodbye to profit etc, as things will get in the way and hold up the build, just life in general. Think of it more as a healthy hobby, cheaper and more rewarding in the long run than being on the locals darts team etc
