In the 30s by the looks of things, an RS1600 is more again.

Very rare example still in original untouched order, that car will be snapped up and restored to within an inch of its life.

Would have fetched its best price in a classic auction though, buyers love them in that condition and pay way over the odds at the moment.

Have a look at what a barn find condition car can fetch at auction, I've seen examples where they go for more than the value of a restored one. Its mad!

its all about the hype with these cars as its not worth anywhere near 30k but with people overvaluing them from various owners clubs its drives prices up to tourist levels, do I like the car ? = yes, would I pay 30k for it ? = hell no, not as long as I have a hole in my arse

You got to remember these arn't just an escort these sort of cars are true collectors items that high end collectors with a vast collections of exotica will pay a premium to own, whether they pay 60,70 or 100k they don't need to care the prized asset is there's
out of 109 built how many are for sale and available now?
1 or 2 if that at a guess

glenn as for it looking rough its 40 year old! and in very nice condition for something that hasn't been restored recently, that would be an easy restoration for a company specialising in restoring escorts theres quite a few of them and I bet there order books are bulging..

I love landrovers and owned many, but that is nothing more than it looks, without its original Diesel engine also that is £500 worth if that.

I'm not surprised, sold my Mum's old Escort Mk2 8 years ago and got alot for that and that was a basic Popular model, drum brakes all round! It was in good condition with years MOT, and to think I nearly sold it for scrap money, stupid boy. When I eBay it, the bids went very high, surprised me and the one guy who could be bothered to actually come and see it, won it!

Luckily it was a 2 door and undersealed from new, needed work, but was solid.

I was looking at this on eBay earlier today, pretty crazy prices but if there aren't any other available and you want one then you'll pay the price. I do hope it doesn't turn in to one of these cars that sells high but gets re listed every week for months on end (like all the bloody saffs right now). Just a shame the pictures are a bit crap as you can't really see it well from those shots..
