That's all they did not 253mph & they get beaten by the Fastest cars in the UK.
I bet those Bugatti owners are so pissed they didn't buy a Sierra taxi instead Just because the Grand Sport could 'only' reach 220 at Brunters doesn't give anyone the right to claim that's all it can achieve 'over here'.

Brunters is not the be all and end all.

Who cares whether the Veyron was beaten by other cars, it was just an example. The point is that the speed you can reach within 1.5 miles is not the same as the actual topspeed of a car. I guess that wasn't really clear from my previous post...

Agreed but to some if it cant be achieved at Brunters then that's all that counts. I don't subscribe to that view but if it keeps some folk happy then so be it.

Not me !! All the fastest times by my car were run at Woodbridge so im not a Brunters fan, car never went well there. Woodbridge is safer & a tad longer & we will run at a Terminal Velocity event there to try to set new Cossie boundaries. However the uk's fastest cars tend to run at Brunters at Vmax events & I do wish to see how an old Taxi compares on the same stretch of runway then you cant hide from the facts. We hope to meet the other 206mph Ford in the UK at this time & you never know an old Taxi may leave as the UK'S Fastest Ford & we have a chance to outrun a La Ferrari & a P1 we will have the Power to do that. I also want to see the Top boys running 235+ & if possible sneak a look at there Data logs. Im an Engineer & mathematician & its of interest to me.

There is nowhere longer in the UK to test for Topspeeds than Woodbridge or Brunters. If you find a longer track let us all know we will have an event there in a flash. Of course its not the ultimate Topspeed but it does make sense to all run the same distance in a competition & all the UK's fastest cars play by those rules I don't make them up I prefer Woodbridge. Mine would exceed 240mph it will certainly have over 1000bhp but having the Power & reaching its theoretical Top speed are as far apart as mine & Mark Sheads heights.

I think the fastest still is the 9eXX porsche 996 turbo , but there is a company now importing a few Underground racing twin turbo Gallardo's which should run over 230mph.

Interesting should be some serious cars doing silly speeds this year then. Would love to see one of the American ford gt's run their at 300mph in a mile now, but imagine it would take a long distance to stop from that speed!

Rod when do you think your car will be ready to run ?
There is an Porsche event being organised at Woodbridge in April , i have my name down for it but looks like i won't be able to make it.
Its around half the price of a V max event so would be a good shakedown , and should be a few very fast Porsches there.

No Martin others ask all the time how my car is coming on I just answer you wont find a thread on here about My Topspeed attemps that ive started for many years outside my resto thread. I really don't know not contacted Mark since early December. Ive loads on at the mo & my Cossie is not even on the list let alone a priority. Mark has said engine in car by end of February 2016 is that a possibility well maybe he will answer that on this thread. Im in no hurry , I don't go to shows or club nights these days. It should run in 2016 but I said that in 2015 so who knows. If it never runs again & I suppose that's a possibility, have had my fun & achieved more than I thought possible. Because im still on here mixing it with the youngster it sometimes pays to remember im as old as most of there Dads & some Grandads so I do rather well & if my car never runs again perhaps when im gone it may be appreciated whats been achieved but I doubt it.

If you have the Power the speeds will be achieved. Just get the maths right its not magic. The maths suggest near 3000bhp to get there in a Cossie so I doubt much less in a Ford gt.

Im aware of the event but not a chance im sure Mark will want 6 months fiddling before it runs, new trick bits in this engine mainly on the anti-vibration side that may or may not work.

Still reckon you'd probably need around 200bhp even in a ford GT, although I hear some cars are near this!

It suggest Euan had 570bhp ish on that run.

Well we RR'd it at 505@wheels which we estimated was around 550bhp.
I think he himself will admit the car had more in it. It was a roller bearing T4 with a few changes
