Default Mk4 bonnet won't release?

Hi

Gone to my escort today and the bonnet release catch had no tension on it. I thought maybe it had snapped but when I pull the end of the cable with pliers it won't budge so I'm assuming it has caught when I last closed the bonnet?

How can I get the bonnet open

Anthony

Jack the front end up. Easily accessible from underneath

I was thinking of taking front bumper off if poss?

If I Jack it up I'm assuming I need to slide the spring loaded keeper across using a screwdriver or similar?

Thanks

i would try pushing on the bonnet flat palmed on the swage line above the ford badge. kinda rock it slighty too with your palms, whilst someone else tries to activate the bonnet release handle, don`t dent it, if its mint

Yeah was thinking of doing this but the cable just feels too tight!

Front bumper doesnt need to come off. Just jack it up and reach up and you'll be able to feel where the cable feeds in and just manually pull the latch out

Managed to get it open by jacking up and moving the keeper over with my hand.

The cable had detached from the keeper! Its got a cable tie on now!

Cheers
