Quick Underside Poll
Over the winter I've stripped the underneath of my cossie down to take care of a few scabs and seal it all up.
I've just finished with the primer, and was about to paint it all black with some nice thick chassis black stuff, but I quite like it grey
I think they were like this (ish lol) from the factory, and cant decide whether to try and keep it a little bit original (just a splash of paint on the chassis legs, and some grey stonechip here and there), or just paint the fooker black and be done with it
A few pics anyway:

Primer is pourous and will absorb water, so you must put something over it, even if you stick with grey make sure you use a top coat grey.
I'd underseal it and forget about it, and i'm talking from experience.

When others have chipped, scratched, flaked, and peeled, POR-15 will still be preventing rust. If you underseal it, you can get a stone chip in the underseal-water gets underneath the coating and rots it from there 
Waxoyl never goes off, stays/looks like vaseline, so it won't trap water next to the body if a stone hits it
You can get clear or black waxoyl i think

If you dont use the car much in the winter then i would seal it with a top coat and leave it, that way you can see if the rust starts to come back. If however its your daily transport i would still top coat but spray a load of waxoil over the top also.

the battery tray in my s2 was waxoyled years ago and is still in perfect condition, even tho the car is driven daily in winter and left outside in bad weather sometimes
you can hardly see the coating, but it must be doing a good job
only had the underside done in september last year, after finding two 1inch holes where the water flies off the tyres near the footwells

I've been out there tonight, and painted it up something like it was before I stripped it all back just to have a look:
I still cant make my mind up!!
I'll either paint it as above, then clear waxoyl it all, or paint it all black then waxoyl...
