the battery tray in my s2 was waxoyled years ago and is still in perfect condition, even tho the car is driven daily in winter and left outside in bad weather sometimes
you can hardly see the coating, but it must be doing a good job

only had the underside done in september last year, after finding two 1inch holes where the water flies off the tyres near the footwells
