You couldn't make this up
I mechanicaled a bus on Sunday as the engine sounded like the proverbial bag of spanners in a washing machine
Another driver said there was nothing wrong with it when he gave it to me even though the floor of the bus was bouncing like a nightclub
The guy who came to deal the bud over said there was nothing wrong with it "just a loose panel"
The next day, this bus is out on the road again, still sounding like a cement mixer, buy crucially, there was a little bit of gaffer tape on the corner of the "vibrating panel" as a fix
170 miles later the news has come back that there was no oil in the engine and its going to need a new one
But never mind me, I'm just a driver

The official answer was "no one has trained us to check the oil"
Yeah, that'll work
But I see what you mean, there is no preventative maintenance, it's only when the bus grind to a halt and gets recovered back that anything happens
And the money they've saved isn't enough to cover the cost of the repair

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
How much training does a person need in order to check the oil?
Now, topping the oil up, that's another matter......

One of our trucks at work is using about 8 litres of water a day and sounds rough as anything, it gets reported every day on the drivers daily check list but nothing gets done about it. The suit and tie wearers in my company don't give a fook as long as it is still on the road earning money.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
We get fucked if we don't check our trucks over.
I licence
Engine oil
Water
Washer fluid
Transmission fluid
Power steering fluid
Tyres, pressures and wheel nuts
Lights, instruments, indicators, horn
Seat belts
Tacho
Speed limiters
Brakes and steering
Hoses and electrical couplings
Bodywork, wings, curtains
Warning devises
Chains and shackles.
Plus a check of all tools and we carry quite a lot.
Takes about 2 hours to do properly.
Worse part is checking the tyre pressures. 9 truck tyres and 30 trailer tyres.

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
Could be worse, you could be mechanical with a dead battery and wont go into gear when they send someone out that takes 2 hours to do a 3 mile journey and then they could turn up with no means to get the bus started i.e no jumper pack
